Hello!

This is my first post.

My wife and I will be vacationing in Tortola in August. We're trying to decide where to stay. We've narrowed it down to either the Lighthouse Villa or Long Bay Beach Club. Basically, we're beach people. Although Long Bay Beach Club sounds nice, it may be too secluded for us. Am I wrong? For the experts, what are the pros and cons between the two properties? Which would you choose?

Thanks,

That's what I was thinking. Not sure what the current status is on LOng Bay. As far as Lighthouse, it's a really nice place, but kind of a little hike up the hill from the beach. If you are a big beach person and you want to stay in Cane Garden, I would pick Myetts. Or Sebastian's in Little Apple Bay, which has a lovely beach.

I've stayed at Long Bay a couple of times the latest being March 2013. What part of it is closed? We always stayed right on the water it was about a 100' walk to the beach I always thought it was a pretty nice place.

Are they closed for remodeling or is it more than that? Without the restaurant for guest they will start losing business.

A small dipping pool and the restaurant were open when we were down in October 2014. There is a new bar open next door to Long Bay Beach Club also where we had cocktails. Nice atmosphere and service at the new place.

Long Bay is open and has downsized..everything on the beach side of the road is open...they have closed the pool etc and given villas back to the owners to run...you will be renting one of the two story units right on the sand..couple of restaurants and a dipping pool and a much better, local owned, restaurant right next door " Tropical Fusion"..that said Malcia Rymer runs a great operation at Lighthouse in CGB with all CGB has to offer..hope this helps..

I think Cane Garden is the best for chilling ( except when boats in, but in August you may have only one day with cruise ship)
You have lots of choice for food and beverage. Music may be limited unless you are there first week of August. Lighthouse is wonderful and one of the nicest accomodations in the bay. there is a steep hill but it is right across from the beach by Quito's Gazebo.

Toast.......to Life; White Bay...heaven on earth.

Lighthouse is great up top floor. a Hike for sure.
Have also stayed at Agape and would recommend it for the awesome views, also a bit of a Hike, but not like Lighthouse.

Again, thanks everyone for the feedback, and the welcome.

I think we've decided to book at the Lighthouse Villa's. Sounds like a good fit for us.

It is a very nice place to stay and beautiful views from the upper floors. These days I don't think I could do that walk up the hill, but I'm probably older than you are! Enjoy!

I won't tell how old I am <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Grin.gif" alt="" /> but enjoy your stay! Hope you are getting one of the second or top floor rooms, as the view from the first floor is not much. The other floors, great!

We've rented a penthouse villa on the top floor.

Thanks,
