For those of you who loved Boo Boo Jam, it is with sadness that I tell you that the former owner, Reuben Beauperthuy, has died today.

Met Reuben years ago and enjoyed several conversations with him about Boo Boo Jams and some of the island history and Malay. May he rest in peace!!

very sad, he was a very interesting person and born in Bellevue hospital before it was a prison hospital in Manhattan.

While Bellevue has a reputation for having mentally sick people admitted there, it's actually a regular city hospital. The army sometimes sends medics to learn how to treat gunshot wounds since they have more experience in that field than most hospitals in the country.

Yes, sad. Boo Boo's was quite a place. Anyone know if his brother Louis who owned the adjoining land is still alive?

Very sad indeed! I've missed Boo Boo Jam since it burned and Capt. Reuben was always interesting to talk to. His Sunday afternoon parties were a fun part of the week!
