2nd trip (first was a day stop on a cruise) 1st report

Flights uneventful. OKC to Dallas, Dallas to Miami, Miami to SXM.
Airport to Unity, Unity to Sharon Harris, Sharon Harris to Les Balcons, Oyster Pond – 40ish minutes.
There was a beer stop in between the phone and Les Balcons but it only took a minute.

Les Balcons : LOVED IT!! Through recommendations on this board booked Unit 17. The view of the marina was beautiful. This was a perfect location for us. Orient was apprx. 15 minutes away, Simpson Bay maybe 30 minutes. I guess if you are looking for nightlife this might not be the place. If you are looking for a quiet evening on the balcony with a nice cool breeze its perfect. Can’t say enough good things about our location.

Visited Dinghy Dock several times for their happy hour and sure enough you pour your own. During said happy hour 2 beers 2 rum somethings - $8 including tip. Had the calamari, which was fine. Really enjoyed visiting with the bartenders and other patrons.

Tried Dawn Beach on our first outing. Really nothing to write home about here. .75 cent beer was tasty though. Also had a burger and a fish sandwich which were both very good.

Next day to Orient. This is where we spent the majority of our time on our one day stop last year. We found our place for chairs at Mexicana Bar. $14 – 2 chairs, 1 umbrella, 2 free drinks and free bathroom. We brought an ice chest with beer but tried to either buy a couple of drinks or get something to eat at their bar each day but I really don’t think it mattered to them. Spent 6-7 days in pretty much the same 2 chairs. Enjoyed people watching, dog watching, napping on and off, pretty much doing nothing. It was perfect.

Met Bill and Elaine of “BillandElaine” on this site, Elaine is actually the person who found me on Trip Advisor and recommended this site to me, many thanks Elaine!!
We met at BBB and had a wonderful time visiting with them. We then all went to The Kissing Fish for our first TTOL party, thank you Jan for a wonderful time.

Elaine recommended Baywatch for their Margarita Shrimp, Elaine you’re correct it was fabulous. Bill recommend Bananas for the Peppercenni (sp) Calamari. This might have been my favorite. Not fried, just sautéed to perfection.

Took the ferry to Pinel Island, had a nice afternoon there. I think you might actually be able to walk across rather than take the ferry!!

Took the Scoobi Too cruise to Anguilla. Wonderful meal was served on board with all the drinks you could muster. Shoal Bay East was gorgeous. The sand was like powdered sugar, so fine and just as close as you can get to white without actually being white. Plenty of sailing time. On the trip back it was apprx. 2hrs with only the sails. So relaxing that I was forced to nap for about 45 minutes. Really enjoyed meeting the crew, who made for a fun trip and also all of our fellow passengers.

Had breakfast at The Sunset Grill/Café? On Grand Case while waiting for the Scoobi. Had Eggs Benedict and French Toast, both were great.

Tried a total of 7 different casinos and no, we had no luck but we did have fun trying!!

Couldn’t help but be a little concerned about safety after reading the gloom and doom postings but never felt anything but safe. That being said, of course we didn’t put ourselves in any situations where we felt we needed to worry.

Thanks to all for the invaluable advise we received from this site and once again a special thanks to Bill and Elaine for directing me to this site in the first place.
