My husband and I used to live in SD, and try to return once a year to visit friends and enjoy the city. I wouldn't normally do a trip report for this, but since we did some great dining and activities I thought it might be of interest to anyone planning on traveling there.

Flights and Parking:[b] Flew AA n/s JFK to SD no problems with the flight at all, however we did notice the price of long term parking has gone up since Feb. to $15/24hr.

[b]Accommadations and Car Rental:
Rented our car thru Hertz no problems, we are Gold Club members and received an upgrade to the Volvo. We stayed at the Hyatt Manchester, we had requested two adjoining rooms as my sister, brother-in-law and her 2 children were with us, there were no problems with our request, the rooms were very nice nothing spectacular, they were however, very clean and maid service was wonderful.

Dining:[b]
Breakfast: was room service and simple everyday no complaints.

Lunch: We tried to eat Mexican from little Mom and Pop places everyday, they are always the best and boy do we miss good mexican.

Dinner: Harbour House,Seaport Village: descent food, fish and salads, however the service was crazy, the waiter took the orders at the table two at a time, we were a party of 10, and he would take two orders then leave and come back and take two more VERY BIZARRE, one order didnt come at all.

The Fish Market: WONDERFUL FOOD <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Oink.gif" alt="" /> great service and some of the freshest fish you can find.

Tomassos,Coronado Island: Once again wonderful, Italian food that reviles some of the best in NY, and the resturant has open walls for an wonderful view of the Island. The service was outstanding.

Bullys East, Mission Valley: This is kind of place that has something for everyone on the menu, nothing fancy, just steak and seafood, very casual atmosphere, but good food and good service at a very reasonable price, bill for 10 with drinks $170.

Old Town Mexican Cafe, Old Town; VERY VERY casual with long waits however, worth every minute the BEST burritos in town, you can watch them make the tortilla right there, not to be missed.

[b]Activities:

Happy Hour: The Bitter End, Gaslamp, great time with reasonable drinks.

The SD Zoo, we went on a Monday which was a good idea the zoo was not crowded at all, right on the tram, good time.

Mission Beach Roller Coaster: One of the old wooden coasters, which makes for quite an interesting ride.

Midway Museum: The USS Midway is now a floating museum, my husband did 10yrs in the Navy on the Kitty Hawk so seeing the old Carrier was neat, they have an open air cafe which gives you a great view of Harbour Drive.

A Few thoughts: San Diego is one of the best cities and any chance to get our there is well worth the time and money. I will be happy to answer any questions for anyone planning a trip.
