For those who have fished while chartering, did you get a license for every member of your party? My husband will be the one predominantly fishing, but I wasn't sure if it is necessary for our children who may or may not want to reel a fish in... Thanks!

Technically, anyone over 18 who touches a fishing rod needs a license.

true, but just get a license for the fisherman. I have never seen the fishing police, ever. If by some reason you see a police boat tell him you are the only one fishing. Kids under a certain age ? do not need a license

When I purchased a license for a year it was for my boat and everyone on board was allowed to fish.

I tried to purchase a license for a year but got lead from one government office to another. After finally getting to what seemed the right place I filled out a lot of paperwork only to be denied because my boat was US flagged even though home ported and taxed in the BVI. Love to hear how you got the license and if your boat was US flagged?

I forgot the name of the government building but it's near Village Cay.
It was on the second floor and I only had to fill out 1form and 3 days later I picked up the license.
My boat is U.S registered and I had the BVI temporary import permit.
The fishing license cost me about $350.00 for the year and it was in the name of my boat.

Thanks!! The Moorings gave me a form and told me to go through Sail Caribbean divers. For those who have done the licenses, is it worth the extra cost to have a go-between? They are $65 each... I did some more googling and it looks like the kids don't need them - 18 and over only.

Any price is worth it if you don't have to go to a government office in the BVI. <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Grin.gif" alt="" />

Got mine thru LastStopSports
Send them paperwork on 4/20 and got email with licence attached on 5/1.

No fuss no muss... <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Thumbsup.gif" alt="" />

FYI...30 day licence is good only for person name on licence.
