Just sitting here thinking about the "good ol' days" on Orient when you could stroll from Club O all the way to the end of the beach and back without any hassle.
It was a great time and a wonderful experience.

 I really miss it.

Although we enjoy several of the places - Ethnic, Chez Leandra, Orange Fever - I would love, if only for a day, to see the beach again the way it was. We'd go half way up, lie under a sea grape tree, and practically have the beach to ourselves.
I'm going where the weather suits my clothes.

LOL Carlos.You're dating yourself.
Last visit to Orient was in 1985. First was 2 years earlier.
We decided on Negril, and found Bloody Bay. It was our own private paradise for many years, till the massive a/i's took over.
Like it or not, it's called progress.
The new arrivals still love it, because they have nothing to compare it to.

We visited Orient in February when we were in St. Martin, and I was stunned at the amount of people on the beach. Maybe it was a big cruise ship day, but I couldn't get a feel for what it looked like, or even see the beach bars very well because of the amount of people. It would be nice to see it with maybe a tenth of the traffic it had that day. We had a nice day at Happy Bay, because it had very few people, and was very beautiful, and you could still go naked. I know its not a sanctioned nude beach, but most the people there were nude. | | |

We were there in March and from the our first visit in 2000 to our last two, the beach has changed dramatically. Walking North of Club O was like walking in a shopping mall during Christmas. We mostly stayed on CO property. However, the early morning walks were good.I saw somewhere that the French government is about to make some changes to the beach, that is bulldoze some of the establishments and create a more natural look to the beach. This due to past hurricane.

Well, I'm not sure whether the final effect will be to 'create a more natural look to the beach' or not, but there have been numerous posts here on the SXM forum about the project which will begin sometime in June, allegedly. <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Wink.gif" alt="" />
