January, 2016 we have a charter for a week around BVI with 3 other couples. Afterward we are debating on staying another week on shore in the Leverick area (we love the north sound) or on St John (we've never been).

There are just 2 of us. <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/circle.gif" alt="" />

Thoughts? Ideas?

If you'd consider Little Apple Bay on Tortola we might be able to accomodate you at CRC (10% TTOL discount too)..otherwise Leverick is a great choice..

I usually sulk for the first 7-10 days post charter. It hasn't worked well for me in the past, so your options sound better.

We do Guavaberry On Virgin Gorda. Love the area, its close to lots of fun restaurants and the beach is superb. You can always drive over the hill to get a NS fix. Take the free ferry to Bitter End, Saba or Fat Virgins.

Little Apple Bay & Leverick Bay are both great places to decompress.

Agree on both Apple Bay and Leverick - Guavaberry looks awesome as well - either way, rent a car for a few days and explore.

We did a few days post charter on St. John and had a great time. Some friends stayed at a place called Lavender Hill and it was nice and an easy 10 minutes walk to Cruz Bay for restaurants and bars. We stayed at a B&B in Crus Bay. It was OK, but I would opt for Lavender Hill just because of the small swimming pool for dunking off! We rented a Jeep for a day and drove around the island. I can envision getting a car for a few days, or more, and plan on spending a day at different State Park beaches for picnics and swimming. Another plus to St. John is the reliable ferry service to Red Hook (hourly) then taxi to STT, if you are using that airport.

We like to do STJ post charter. Nice transition back to civilization.

Reentry is such a hard transition for me some trips. I love the idea of staying additional days on land to explore more. St John is beautiful and a wonderful place to explore both with a jeep and on foot. Especially if you like to hike and be rewarded with a practically private beach. Tortola and Jost are other places I would consider hanging my hat, oh who am I kidding, I have hung my hat. Good food, great music, and welcoming people, how can you go wrong?

Come on down to Mahoe Bay - there are usually villas available just post Christmas

St John is great! You can rent a car right when you get off the ferry dock. If you want a little gem of a place to stay, check out String of Pearls http://www.vrbo.com/64481 We stayed there last year and loved it. It was also a two minute walk to the Westin from there. They have a great bar, pool, dinghy rentals, etc. You can go to a different beach every day. :-)

First thing to do post charter is to immediately book the next charter!

We stay with Pam and Matt at a B&B called "At Home in the Tropics" right below Blackbeard's Castle and above the Governor's House in CA. Best B&B we've ever stayed at. Can't say enough good things about Pam and super convenient to walk everywhere from the ferry to Yacht Haven Grande. Immaculate...

We usually do a few days on St John after sailing. It is total relaxation!

Love sailing the BVI's with friends.

You really can't go wrong no matter what you decide. If you are budget minded and like quiet relaxation Guavaberry is the place. The beach there is spectacular and uncrowded. If you decide on St John please take a look at A House of Open Arms. You can Google it. It was wonderful. But remember it is very difficult to find beachfront accommodations in SJ. Also SJ is more adventure and a lot more lively than VG.

I checked Lavender Hill and String of Pearls. No vacancy for our dates. Amazing how thinks book so early!

Our goal is to stay on St John since we have never been there. We have been to BVI many many times and have also stayed on St Thomas.

We are looking for 2 bedroom, 2 bath, a/c, pool and great ocean views on St John. Since we've never been there we aren't sure where the "best" area is to stay. February 3 - 9, 2016.

I appreciate all the ideas!

We've got a lot of St. John visits behind, and ahead, of us. Winter we prefer the western exposure (sunsets and warmer swimming pool) of Cruz Bay, Great Cruz Bay, Chocolate Hole, Devers Bay and Hart Bay. There are a lot of options through there. VRBO works well for location based search and a lot of the management companies are now listing inventory on VRBO.

We stayed at Grande Bay condos for the first time in October after Cat Fight. It was very convenient, but lacked the views and privacy of a villa.

Cheers, RickG

We like Over the Rainbow, but I checked your dates and it is booked already. Bummer! The Reef Bay and Fish Bay areas are nice to be able to get back into town easily. We have also stayed at Gallows Point which is wonderful if you want to be able to walk to dinner and the happy hours. If you wanted to stay at the opposite end of St John. We love Villa Gin De Mer. Amazing privacy and views, views, views.

We love Grande Bay on STJ. Rent a 2 bedroom condo. Pool, hot tub, fitness room, and within walking distance to all of Cruz Bay.

We've stayed on St John many times. Headed there later this week. Let me know what your budget is and maybe I can help you.

Love sailing the BVI's with friends.
