This was our first experience with an all-inclusive in SXM. This was my 33rd trip and my husband's 30th, so we've pretty much seen and done most of what the island has to offer. We were content to just stay for a week and veg - no car - not driving around.
The deal at Maho was so amazing that I couldn't pass it up!! I booked last June for a week for 2 for $847 (total-all inclusive)!! We have timeshare at Port de Plaisance, but our last 3 years have been so horrible staying there that I figured this is only a few hundred $$'s over what we pay at PDP and all inclusive.
The resort is very nice - sure, it can use some updates, but it had everything we needed for the week. Breakfasts were very good, but that's pretty much where it ended. They only have 2 restaurants besides the buffet. One is the Palms Grill, which changes over to a white tablecloth experience at night and the other is Ascot Pub which is outside the resort and only open for dinner. Both were not awful, but the menu never changes - not even a daily special, except for a soup change. We did go out several times. We dined with Jeannie from Stop & Drop Tuesday and she recommended Bajatzu, which was wonderful!! on the pricey side, but well worth it. The next night we tried Tratoria Italiana, which was horrible. Another couple were met at the resort were there at the same time and they thought the same thing. We told them about Bajatzu and they went there the following night, as did we! They liked it so much; they went back the Friday night, as well. Soprano's was closed for renovations and we would have liked to try that. All in all - a great relaxing trip. If I got the same deal; I'd definitely go back again. After staying at PDP these past few years; anything is better and our expectations are not super high.

I assume that price didn't include air, did it? Still a pretty good price for a room and breakfast, even if you ate all your other meals out.

No, it didn't include airfare, but that was only about $880 for us both, so for $1750 we had a week in SXM - not bad...

OK, it does sound like a great deal! We have done a/i several times in Jamaica and other places, where we literally never left the resort. It can be very relaxing.

Who did you book with last June to get an all-inclusive rate of only $121 per night for 2 people? That's an amazing rate as currently their best rate for 2 is about $286 per night after taxes if you stay 3 or more nights.

I thought it was a mistake, but I called and confirmed. We got an upgrade to the 7th floor which was nice. We did overlook the water treatment plant which wasn't great, but couldn't complain...

The Jamaica AI also includes bar drinks and water sports. Does this one?

Maho doesn't really have water sports but drinks were included. Wines were Chilean, not a lot of choices though. Saigon Blanca and chardonnay for the whites. I saw a # of different beers, includin Presidente

Were mixed drinks an option?

I think I saw a Groupon this week for Maho AI.

Yes, anything you wanted. I drank a lot of pina coladas, strawberry coladas, and hubby loves Planteurs Punch. They have a drink of the day every day too. Wow - they were really strong. Cheryl at the Palms Grill Bar is very generous with a pour!!

Wow, I was curious and looked--didn't find any deal like this. You were lucky!

I booked in June, so I'm going to keep looking - who knows - maybe another deal will come up? I think part of the reason they were offering the deal though is because they were undergoing construction at Ocean Point and taking away a pool and restaurant from Maho. They are supposed to be giving the Point Restaurant back to Maho when the Azul Restaurant is opened. That remains to be seen. They had gestapo (I mean security guards) posted at every entrance to Ocean Point to be sure none of the peons darkened their doorways.
