I just can't say enough about this fella. Our kids flight was delayed till 4:15 (spirit). the last ferry out was 430 from C&I or 515 from RH. Apparently Kevin called up the company and had the ferry held for 15 minutes so my kids made it on to meet us at the FMP in Trellis. This also saved us and them of them having to overnight in STT.

Later in the trip, Linda and I were walking along side the road and Kevin noticed us and picked us up. Even remembered the type of bags we had at storage at the ferry dock.

Unfortunately, Kevin has never read this forum. I let him know if he ever has a bad day, he should log into the site.

I used him on my last trip and told him about this site as well. He is a great resource to have and know. Honest, trustworthy etc. Having just purchased a boat in Tortola I will be using him every trip along with any of my guests. Pay it forward.

I texted him this morning to be picked up next week and he responded within the hour. Always use Kevin in STT and AC in RT - down in 7.

We are taking some new-to-sailing friends with us in November and I was explaining how we get to the boat etc. told them I'd have "our guy Kevin" meet us at the airport. They said "wait - you've 'got a guy' ? Well .....yeah kinda......

I ended up randomly riding with Kevin on the trip from the ferry at CA to the airport on Sunday. I asked if he was the "famous Kevin" on TTOL and he smiled and passed me his card. In discussions with him, it is clear the "extra" benefit he can provide is getting you to your destination if/when things go wrong. Kind of like local trip insurance.
I will use him every time in the future. He indicated the best way to pre-coordinate with him is through text messages.

We paid him twice what he asked for for each of our three trips.the kids did the same for each of their two trips.

Worth every penny given he saved the kids an overnight @STT

We had same experience with him. We had complicated travel plans with different couples departing at different times and he made it all work and was able to also hold spots on Roadtown ferry for us on our going trip. Great guy! Enough cannot be said about him.

Held up the ferry? Grrrr..... One of the best decisions ever made in the USVI was to enforce the ferry departure times. The net effect of ferries not running on their published schedules is overwhelmingly negative.

The ferries in the USVI never ran on time. The practice became so pervasive that locals never showed up at the scheduled times to catch the ferry because they expected it to run late. Same was true of the movie theaters. Finally someone had the good sense to put a stop to it. Ferries in the USVI generally run on time now.

BVI? It's a joke - and an embarrassing one at that for them.

I disagree, the Red Hook - St. John runs like clockwork. I don't know how you know the locals don't show up on time? And........ who put a stop to what?

I lived in St. Thomas for 20 years. I was there when the ferries never ran on time, and I was there when the decision was made to adhere to the published schedules. Who made the decision? Who cares? It was made.

The fact that one "for hire" guy can influence ferry schedules is symptomatic of one of the most significant ills facing the V.I.

I hope that my "tips" are in return for a service provided. Which is different than paying extra for preferential treatment at the expense of others who are also paying for the same service.

Yessir, holding that ferry for 15 minutes GOING to the BVI's really screws up my travel plans. Actually gives me time to get another beer!

Kevin HAS made disasters minor inconveniences. This guy is tops and goes beyond doing his job. Sometimes tips are just not enough.

Kevin has saved my [censored] more than once since '07, and those of guests that have come down over the years. It's not about calling to see if a ferry can be held for a few minutes(btw, not something he invented)so that 6-10 people that were delayed due to airline/airport can get there (doing the math at $60-70/pp, the ferry company is usually willing to wait) but it's about a guy that loves people, and is a great salesman for his home. It's about having a friend you can contact that will hook you up with the right people and places, either on St Thomas or in the BVI. Other than his father, I've not had another cab driver that will do ANYTHING remotely close to what Kevin does. theKurp, I so understand your POV, having sat on the 1000 from RT til 1040 on 01 Jul, whatever the reason was...RTFF was broken as was another one, BUT, there was Kevin on the other end reassuring me via texts that he would make sure I'd make my early flight despite the ferry bs. Got me there yet again! RickinAtlanta, that's what pisses me off most about the ferry being held...another beer!! Kevin is all that! One love brother, and I'll see you Monday!
