Just returned from 8 days in Cabarete. Had read mixed reviews of our resort, the city and security on several sites but can report that we had a great time.

Ocean Manor Beach Resort was great. Location was good being about 2 miles out of Cabarete it was quiet in the evenings and just a short drive to bars, beaches etc.

Cabarete Beach was our favorite due to the bars, restaurants, also because of all the kite surfing. Those guys are amazing!!

Had great food at Lax, also some wonderful banana daiquiris during happy hour. A pitcher, about 8 drinks, for $6.00ish dollars. In the evening all of the restaurants move their tables out onto the beach and string lights and serve dinner. Beautiful setting.

Our only complaint would be the vendors on the beach. “No, gracias” didn’t cut it for the majority of them. “Be polite, just look” seemed to be their answer. I thought “no, gracias” was polite. Other than that we all had a great time.
