A recent post on the SXM board talks about beach bars being torn down to make improvements, places we actually just visited for the first time in March, this has me thinking tonight....over the past 30+ years of visiting the USVI/BVI I have seen plenty of changes, some good but honestly as a selfish once or twice a year visitor I hate seeing the drastic changes that seem to happen over night sometimes.

Who wants to reminisce with photo's? I can remember a summer in maybe 82 or 83 when we sailed into White Bay and the following photo's show what we experienced. (Yes, apparently I had an 80's mullet and didn't mind wearing short shorts!)

Nice Tom, you are always quick with a great photo!! As you know "back in the day" is a relative term, photos don't necessarily have to be from last century if you have a cool shot from your first or last trip how bout letting us see them??

Club Paradise 1990 +/- a year
Best Rum Punch I have ever had!
Many a hour sitting there waiting on the ferry named "When"
You never knew WHEN it was going to come or leave. Pick up was right in Great Harbour.

Corsairs in Dec 2014 (I know the Christmas Tree is a give away). Great Breakfast and a killer Bloody Mary or three.
Now you have to catch a cab or walk back over the hill to get a ferry that will not wait a moment passed WHEN it is scheduled to leave.

The big difference... there is a power line or telephone line in the later pic Progress!

Sunnybuns, I clicked on your link and the saved photo looks unusual. I saved it to my account and it posted here? Eric put photobucket directions on the other post, see if that helps.

Finally got it...I owe you a painkiller...Forgot to type text and THEN continue and add the url @ ttol. My problem was I was trying to add it directly to the text body. Photobucket resizing/cropping was a whole new world as you can see. I was successful finally in the test area..YEEHAW!!

Thanx again,,,Now I can start posting some photos from drakes / moskito island BACK IN THE DAY.....

The prices are definitely 1987+
Good to see the old telephone area code 809 on the bill.

Well you have to consider where they're located, even if they sold tacos (which were unheard of back then) they would have to keep it in the $20. range to mask twin a profit.

anything I have old is on film, we are obviously not photo people. I might have some shots of my 1969 36' Charlie Morgan full keel cutter, loved that boat. We had her on the dock at Monty Trainors in Coconut Grove for about $150 a month

SB you are the man! Your photo's are great. In 87 I was still single and staying in eco tents and screened cottages at Maho and Cinnamon Bay STJ, I think we paid around $20-30 something a night! Your bill is interesting though in regards to the bar bill, drinks were a lot cheaper then for sure!! $1 beers and $2 drinks!!!

Or free with the open bar gig.Just grab a bike w/a basket , fill it up w/heinies and head to rocky pt. for snorkeling. My sister and I rented 1 & 2 and got half the island to ourselves w/mates of course. Boatman @ our call and lunches on deserted islands.Victor was the chef. Allways rode a bike down to the villa area and had a puff on something before dinner, Cant remember the boatmans name but heard he went to work for Sir Richard @ necker. Good times ..............

Yes, those were the days for sure....I found a photo of Victor! I am no musician and Victor would only let me play that wooden fish thing that you scraped with a stick We would walk up there from Cinnamon and stay late into the night. Once the walk back down was so dark we kept falling in the ditch, better than falling over the edge! Thanks for the memories SB! I have a photo of his dog somewhere............

Classic photo. Thanx for posting.I think the shot I did was on arrival and can't find any others. Da medicine man. He was way into herbal remedies if I remember. Great view there and best cold beer on the island. We allways rented from Joan Imbrie and stayed in houses on bordeux mtn. area.

Treehouse was one of them, And went sailing with Peter Mullinberg on "Breath"....
