We're traveling to Martinique for a week in mid-December and are looking at renting an apartment through HomeAway. As of now, it seems like Les Trois-Īlets might be the best place to use as a base to explore the island. We'll have a rental car, but we also want to stay in an area that has its own bars/restaurants and ideally a beach.

Thoughts on Les Trois-Īlets or any other suggestions?

It's a few years now since we stayed there but, yes, Les Trois-Īlets is a very pleasant place to stay. Alternatives would be St Anne, big marina, lots going on. Also St Pierre in the north. Totally different, very old town with the big volcano to go and visit.

Thank you. We were also thinking of splitting our time between two areas. Maybe the first three or four nights in St. Anne to be close to the southern beaches and then the last three or four in Les Trois-Īlets. We'd drive up north for a day trip from Les Trois-Īlets, but probably wouldn't stay there.
