Went last week-7 nights- last part of trip was amid the Tropical Depression Noel rain. Good transfer from the airport even tho the Newark flight was late. I think Newark is a "broken" airport as all the flights leave the gate on time then sit in a line for 30 to 75 minutes waiting for planes in front of them to take off. Too many flights at same time - an example of private sector/mismanagement/ greed I guess-
The Caliente driver was there waiting in Puerta Plata. Left immediately- no messing around like at Braco. The resort is a gorgeous property on a hill overlooking the ocean. In some ways reminds you of Hawaii, some Cook pine trees even. They generate their own electricity. two pools two hot tubs, clean newly redone rooms with AC - we were in the less expensive hotel units on the hill, and had a basic room. Staff is great, and so is the food service. There were not any "shortages" or "we are out of that" or one hour wait to cook some ribs like at Braco. Good entertainment each night- band, dancing, show, magic act etc. Some of the people there seemed to be owners of the units, staying 2 or 3 or 4 weeks. Good security. Good transfers. Spanish lessons free every day. spa facilities etc.
