Does anyone know of any places that are closed in August? We'll be there the 7th to the 18th.

Speaking of packed ....... We were shut out of a slip at both a leverick and BEYC today. Plenty of balls but no slips at both. There is a sports fishing tournament that goes though next Wednesdy. Leverick is booked for slips until then. We were very disappointed.

We were offered to stay at the end of the fuel dock but the winds have been north of east and there is some swell that is producing a lot of motion at Leverick.

We elected to cross over to Saba and are on a ball there. Very nice, no swell, nice breeze. We've got a day planned on VG with a rental car so very we have to do some things differently since we couldn't get a slip at Leverick; did not here a word of this from anyone until we made a phone call at 8:30am today. Seems unusual to find both Leverick and BEYC booked solid this time of year.

I would recommend calling a couple days in advance. I called Scrub at 1000 on Sunday a couple weeks ago and got the last slip. I called Leverick at 830 on Tuesday for Wednesday arrival and got the last slip.

Tamarind closes after the last "Sunday Funday brunch" on Sunday, 2 August, for about 6 weeks or so; Brandywine closed last Sunday, 19 July, reopening on 2 September; the Dove is closing this weekend and re-opening in September or October with a new owner. These are the few I can think of off the top of my head!

So sorry we couldn't find a slip for you at Leverick, but its Christmas in July, where every Puerto Rican visits the North Sound. Just pass by Pond Bay tomorrow, there is a huge party there sponsored by the beer Medala. Starts around noon
