I'm doing my first charter with Moorings next year and have booked the 4800. My question is regarding the two single bunks - aka crew bunks on that boat.

On the boat plan, the front left is clearly marked, but front right is not. The boat reviews that I found say both are viable.

Has anyone chartered this boat and can comment?

I know the quality of sleeping won't be the same, but my guy friends would rather do that, than share a double bed.

The starboard forward cabin (v-berth) is a full crew cabin - it has a cot, toilet (with its own holding tank) and sink with shower faucet. Only accesible from the hatch above. No A/C. I'd rather sleep on the couch in the saloon.

The port forward v-berth is accessible from above and from the attached port forward cabin. No A/C, but if the door from the port forward cabin is left open, you can get some A/C in there. They'd have to share space in a cabin or head with someone as getting dressed in that small space would be difficult.

I wouldn't have someone staying in either of those the same price as everyone else. But if it's just two guys, they could easily share the port cabin with one taking the double bed and the other sleeping in the vberth. This way they could share the cabin space but have separate sleeping areas.

Thanks for the quick reply. I heard the saloon couch also can convert into a double. Is that easy to do, or is simpler to just sleep on the bench?

It is easy to convert it - table just lowers and there are cushions for it.

Everything matrix said is correct. Two guys sharing the port fwd cabin is no problem. Leave the door open when you turn on the AC for the evening and the temp will be fine. My brother is a big guy and he likes it up there. The main salon makes into almost a queen sized berth. The newer boats are a bit quicker to convert but we're talking maybe a minute more from the older 4800's.
