If you are staying in Maho, it is nice to leave the car in the garage and walk up to Bamboo (formerly Bamboo Bernies). The restaurant is divided into a chic bar area with private nooks and a upscale Nuevo dinning room. We started off in the bar for happy hour with flavored mojitos and a tasty portion of fried calamari. Several bartenders along with a cute young girl kept us entertained while we enjoyed our cocktails. We had already decided to enjoy the large boat of 4 specialty rolls, 20 pieces of sushi, and 12 pieces of sashimi. I tired a refreshing cucumber cocktail while the boat was being prepared. The usual soup and salad was not served before the beautiful presentation of the boat. The rolls were pristine, large and each delivering their own flavor. Nice slices of sashimi and sushi finished off the plate. At $110, it may be some what less expansive at home, but we still have a nice take out of leftovers for lunch. Service seemed more attentive at the bar. Although everything was fine with the meal, our request for lite soy sauce, turned into a side dish of teriyaki from the food runner. A check from our server was probably over 10 minutes into the meal. A cool restaurant serving very good sushi. Sometimes you palate needs a break from fancy French food.

I,m a bit confused, you said the server brought the check over 10 minutes into the meal. Were you still eating when they brought the check? Had you asked for the check when the food arrived? It is considered quite rude to bring a check before one asks for it.

We go a couple of times during our stay! Always a great meal. A big surprise was the creme brule - one of the best we've ever had! <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/hungry.gif" alt="" />

I thought the same thing until I re-read the post. I think he means they were ten minutes into the meal before the server checked back on them. Frankly, I prefer that the server just observe, and come back if he or she can see I need something. That is the usual custom in European countries, and I like it.
