We just got back a day late. AA sent us to Puerto Rico because of a cancelled flight from SXM. Don't ask! It seems the airline is getting away with abusing the travelling public. Our next choice will be JetBlue, instead of AA. I could spend a whole post on what AA did to us.
We had a great trip and spent most of our days at the west end of Baie Rouge and the mornings skinny dipping in Baie Lounge.
We wanted to go to Happy Bay, but since we were by ourselves and with recent rash of crime there, we decided against it. We thoroughly enjoyed our days on Rouge's west end along with a few other naturist couples that were enjoying the same things we were.
The restaurants are getting quite expensive due to the cost of gas I figure. La Rosa definitely worth it; although pricey.
The Boathouse and Jimbo's fabulous casual dining and great service, reasonably priced, with great food. Los Gauchos getting quite pricey, but the food is still very good. Lee's is okay, service and food not what it used to be. We were very disappointed to find out our favorite Italian restaurant Laguna closed down. We heard one of the owners became ill and returned to Italy. Since the owners are brothers, they closed down. That was such a nice place to eat with such a pretty view from its outdoor area. Their food was always excellent. Some say they may re-open, but no one seems to know for sure.
Cupecoy is morphing into the next Maho. The construction is non-stop there. A lot of Cupecoy beach goers are leaving the area because of what is happening.
The ugliest part of the trip was the Wyndham Sapphire. We were promised Building 3 and we wound up in Building 1. They are extremely rude at the front desk and act as if they are doing you a favor when you ask for something, no matter how politely you ask. There is only one person working behind the resevations counter while four others hang out in the back offices, and 10 people on line waiting, they don't even bother to work together to help. They might have done new construction in the rooms, but the appliances are still old. We had a broken coffee maker and a fithy toaster with crumbs still in it. That's the last time we'll ever stay there! Also avoid Budget Rental Cars. Ours broke down 10 minute after we arrived, even though they quickly replaced it. Their fleet of cars are old. At that point, we didn't care as long as got us where we needed to get to.
No point complaining, we are fortunate that we are still able to afford to travel with the economy being what it is. Most people can't travel like they used to these days. We are looking forward to our next trip to the island already.
