Hi all. We'll be in Tortola in November and trying to get some insights on which beach and excursion to take. Anyone been to Cane Garden Bay or JVD for 'beach days'? I have heard that the surf in Cane Garden can get a bit rough mid November so wondering if JVD would be better. I'd really appreciate insights! And, I will be posting more questions per our stops, so thanks in advance for all the help!

Cane GArden Bay is beautiful place, but NOT on cruise ship days. It is not nearly big enough for the crowds they dump there. Cane Garden Bay is a real ZOO on cruise ship days. I would not recommend it. As far as Jost, I'm not sure where they will take you, but I would recommend that over Cane Garden, because you would also get a boat ride over to Jost in the deal, and you can see more of what makes the BVI famous and beloved, the various islands and being able to be on the water. Or, get a cab by the cruise ship pier and ask the driver to take you to a beach -- ANY BEACH -- other than Cane Garden.

Carol, thanks!! That is what I needed to know. I had looked into getting a taxi but worry about being picked back up on time, plus no chairs or umbrellas available. Great insight...thank you again. And, I don't know what beach on JVD as it doesn't say.

Most (if not all) excursions for cruise ship people from Road Town to Jost Van Dyke go to White Bay.

OK, I would much rather do that than Cane Garden on a cruise ship day.

If you go to Jost you can easily walk down the beach to Ivan's stress free bar and avoid the crowds on a beach that is just as beautiful as the Soggy Dollar spot.
