The government of St. Maarten has fallen again. We're hearing there will be a new government (again) in about three weeks. As usual there will be no effect on tourists, other than not knowing who the Prime Minister will be for a while. We'll let you know more when we do.
Coalition governments among a dozen or so political parties are tricky, especially when members of parliament change affiliations and majorities or pluralities or coalitions fall apart. That has happened what, four times in SXM in the last few years?

Daily Herald story Daily Herald story Link to governing accord I don't understand much of anything about the SXM government, but I definitely disagree that this has no effect on tourists. From what I can see, there has been absolutely ZERO done by the government to address crime issues since Officer Benji's death. Maybe if they could figure out this other stuff, they could move on to doing things to help locals and tourists alike deal with crime, which affects every local person's life AND threatens to destroy the whole livelihood of the country.

Yes, musical chairs is a very apt description, in so many ways.
