Jam your post was locked but I wanted to say you were correct, great food. and when we went it wasn't a house of ill repute. Does anyone on island know if that's true now or just a joke?

To get there you take the road before the Swarma shack next to Fresh Market.

Thank you! I was wondering why they shut me down. The restaurant is not the same as the "house of ill repute". They are in the same building but the restaurant takes up the right side and the other activities are on the left. Separated by a concrete wall. Very, very good food. I hope they're still open next month. Lots of reputable businessmen and women have lunch there every day.

I was also confused by the quick thread shut down. Wife loves good Chinese food and we had not heard of this place before. Also have not seen phrase "ill repute" for a long long time.

The only "House" I know of (and it may not still exist? is Casa Blanca. On the way to Dawn Beach up on a hill.

It really is excellent food. They make everything fresh when you order (down to the sauces, rice, noodles) - we usually order ahead as it can take a while to get it cooked. Not sure if it is still open - it was last November - and not sure of the status of the left side of the building, but anyone who has a hankering for Chinese food while on the island should check it out for a great lunch. If anyone can report if it is still open now, that would be great. As I recall, there was no sign.

I'm sure there are Barbara I remember having very young son with us and driving to Dawn Beach past Casa Blanca. At the beach son told a man cooking food (don't remember name of place) that we had passed the White House and he wanted to know if the President was there. The man's reply was "Probably."

Hmmm, don't know how old your son was at the time but if he was there,
I've got a pretty good guess who the President must have been......

This place sounds like a "Hooters" but with Chinese food instead of wings.

The activities, whatever they may be, on the left side of the building do NOT filter over into the restaurant. It's like most restaurants, with waitresses, cooks, etc., who are not scantily clad or anything like that. The restaurant is separate from the other part. At least at lunch it is - I can't say what it is like at night.

Club Carolina. There is no sign outside - or there wasn't one year ago.

Both parts share the name?

Are they both, um...Chinese?

Not certain that they have the same name as I've never been to the left side and there's no signage for either so, they may or they may not.

If there's no signage for either, how do you know the name of the restaurant? Not a smart-a$$ question....just curious!

I think that's the point. The restaurant is packed at lunch every day. Not sure about the other side, but I imagine being inconspicuous is good for business in this situation.

On island friends asked ask a local for the best Chinese food they said Carolina & gave directions. Each year we say we're going but since Chinese is not our 1st choice anywhere we leave it for last and have never seemed to have time left after all the great GC meals.

I know what you mean Ro, we've heard good things about Winnie's ...somewhere in Maho but have never made it.
We will be there in two weeks.

It sounds like something that could be interesting to try IF it's a rainy afternoon. Must make sure to leave with best number one special and hope it's got chicken with no happy ending.

We are so enamored with the wonderful food in Grand Case, French Cul de Sac and Orient Village that we save Chinese for home. However, I must say that the Thai restaurant in Orient Village is great. That's as close to Chinese that we meander.
