The friendly and efficient folks at Peter Island co-ordinated our departure with the ferry schedule to VG and also our car rental on VG. Clennell from Mahogany was at the dock waiting for us upon our arrival and took care of the paper work and we were off and running in minutes. She was very friendly and helpful and we found Mahogany from a request I made for recommendations here on the forum. Thank You!! We would use them again! We were able to check in early so after lunch at the Top of the Baths" we set out for Leverick Bay. The drive to Leverick from Spanishtown is nothing short of spectacular. We did it numerous times during our week and enjoyed it each trip! Our Condo turned out to be a spacious 2 bedroom unit with large deck and terrific view and AC in the King Bedroom we used. It had 3 large sliding doors with stationery panes across the front which was the living, dining, and kitchen area. The deck was enormous encompassing the entire front of the unit and wrapping around the sides. The facility would get very high marks except for one fatal flaw. There were no drapes of any kind to cover all the glass in the front of the unit. The overhang was not adequate to shield from the afternoon sun and the temp inside-even with all 3 doors open with screens in place got so high it was unbearable and it never really cooled off--being hot even in the morning--in spite of the fact there were numerous large ceiling fans both inside and on the deck. Fortunately we were not there often in the late afternoon and early evening peak of heat except to shower and dress for dinner in the AC bedroom and when we returned home from dinner we sat outside where it was very comfortable and we could see the lights from Drakes on Mosquito Island - although we were told it is closed and sort of in Limbo. The rumor of note while we were there is that Bill Gates had been down visiting with the owner of Neckar Island the previous week and he was buying Drakes. The evenings we carried food in we went to the pool at the Lighthouse restaurant right in front of our unit and ate late and on the porch to avoid the "oven" as we came to call our living/dining area. The unit could be fitted with Louvredrape brand verticals-or similar-which would reflect most of the heat instead of having the glass absorb and compound it. If that were done it would be a great place to stay! We ate twice at the Lighthouse and enjoyed it and I had downloaded and printed a coupon from their website so we got a free bottle of wine the first night--$16.95 on the menu-brought and presented with a smile. We enjoyed the restaurant. We dined one night at "The Olde Yard Inn" and dinner was excellent. We were one of only 2 couples dining there that evening. One night we called Saba Rock and made arrangements for them to pick us up on the dock in front of our unit and went for dinner. We walked around and toured the place and visited their gift shop before dinner. It is really nice. They have a buffet or a pub menu. We ordered off the pub menu and the Burgers we ordered with some special sauce were great. Our waitress, for some reason tried to talk us out of the Pub menu and into the buffet @ $25.00 per person. We persisted and were glad we did. It is a fun evening and they have entertainment every night in the bar upstairs over the dining room. They take you back to where they pick you up upon request -at no charge. We tipped the young man both ways as he was very friendly and accommodating. Another night we called and were picked up and taken to Biras Creek for dinner at their casual restaurant "The Fat Virgin". That, too, was a fun night and we would recommend it. A lot of boaters came and everyone seemed to know everyone else. The people running the restaurnat were very friendly. Their ferry took us back to Gun creek around 9PM. We decided to have lunch one day at Georgio's Table on the beach at Mahoe bay. What a setting!!It is so beautiful and relaxing you don't mind dropping $50 for lunch and paying $4 for a glass of coke over ice--less than a 12 oz can. The food was excellent. We had a bowl of French Onion Soup and shared that and then one small pizza with BBQ sauce, chicken, and carmelized onions. Prior to ordering we shared a Mango colada which also was excellent. Would recommend it highly as a one time experience. A return would depend on your budget and priorities, we think. We had another great lunch experience at the "Mine Shaft" restaurant near the old copper mine. Great view, great drinks, good food, and friendly people. We did the "Bitter End Day Experience" twice while we were on VG. For $36 per person you take the free ferry from gun Creek (every hour on the half hour)and when you arrive go to the desk and get coupons for Lunch including their great Rum Grog, a snorkel trip on their easy access boat designed for snorkelers--your choice morning or afternoon trip, a free fresh water shower, towels are on the snorkel boat, and a 16 oz sounder--choice of about 8 different frozen drinks. I'm not sure we were supposed to get the drink coupons on our plan but we did-both times and found it a great value. You can use their pool, beach huts and lounges, and visit the gift shop prior to taking the ferry back to Gun Creek--every hour on the hour. Next time--The Highlights of our trip---a tour of Katiche Point Greathouse--a daysail to Anegada on Spice and finally--meeting a member of the forum and his family on the beach at Mahoe.
