Day 5 and Day 6

Monday, Aug 11 – Marc’s 40th birthday, which we had planned since last year, to celebrate on the Tiko Tiko. I’m sure this was a milestone that he will remember for the rest of his life. How many people can say that they had Marilyn Monroe sing to them on their birthday?! Everything about the day was great from the weather to the company to the food and drinks to Marissa and I having an adventure exploring the island. There was a downside, though…one of the couples that had been planning on joining us was unable to because of being sick. And shortly after the sail began, Marc realized that he had forgotten the cigars that he had planned on bringing.

After the cruise, we continued the celebration at the Club O Manager’s wine and cheese party and the guys finally were able to enjoy the cigars. Then we continued the celebration having dinner at Papagayo’s. Once again, we thought that the dinners were very good. I had salmon, John had spaghetti shrimp and Marissa had steak. After dinner Marissa and I headed back to our room and the celebration continued back at Marc’s. Even after all of the ‘hype’ over the past year, it lived up to our expectations of being a great day!

Day 6
As one might imagine, today was a pretty laid back day for all of us. But I still woke up early and walked the Club O beach and watched the sunrise. A little while after, Wayne and Pam arrived and Pam and I went for a walk. John headed to the Dutch side to replenish some groceries and Marissa got the chance to sleep in.

Today there was a bit of a change in the weather. The wind and the waves had picked up a bit, churning up seaweed and more jelly fish than I ever remember. But still it was mostly sunny and hot…another great beach day. We grabbed lunch today in the room and had decided to go to Peg Leg Pub for dinner. The food and service were very good. Marissa enjoyed her filet and even though the place is known for it's steak, I've had beef several times this week already and was in the mood for something different, so I ordered the shrimp kebab and John had the garlic shrimp.
Just as we ordered, Marc and Annie walked in, so we moved to a bigger table and enjoyed their company for their last dinner on the island.

In our 7 trips to SXM, we’d only been in a casino once, so since it was so convenient, we walked over and spent a little time playing nickel slots…played for a little while and ended up breaking even…still not my thing...

Back to the resort and to the room for some Etna Rhum Raisin!
