For those who use the bus service, are there any beaches that are accessible along the route?

I would say, in general, beaches on SXM are not accessible by bus, other than possibly Great Bay Beach in P'burg. You need a rental car or a taxi.

Where are you starting from?

My wife and I live in St. Maarten during the winter and in the Boston area the rest of the year.

The beach by the airport is on the bus route. He let us off at the circle.

"the beach by the airport"--are you talking about Maho? Right now, there is basically no sand there..

The bus system in SXM is not like other bus systems you may be used to using. Most of the buses we have seen are more like mini vans than real buses.

Yes - the bus will stop at Mullet Bay Beach, on the road and you walk to the beach down the parking lot road

Mullet Bay, Simpson Bay, Dawn Beach , Maho Beach, Great Bay and Cupecoy beach are all accessible by mini-bus. They are all less than a 3 minute walk..

Ah, perhaps, bus TO the beach, yes. But when one is ready to leave, no telling how long one will wait for the bus to come by to pick you up! To me, it is just not worth it. Cars in SXM are CHEAP. Rent a car!

Personally, I'd go for the rental car, too, but because of the issue of being picked up ON TIME as opposed to ON ISLAND TIME. If a rental car is definitely out of the question, I think I'd make specific arrangements with a driver such as Mr. Brooks or someone who provides the same services and is equally dependable.

Thanks for all your responses! We like to enjoy our share of drinks on the beach so driving home is not always an option... We have used the buses in the past and it has worked out well for us so far. Taking a bus to the beach and then getting a taxi for a ride home gives us a bit more freedom to enjoy the day.

How do yu get a bus to Dawn Beach or Cupecoy?

I've never seen a 'route' that came very close to either of those, especially Dawn.

OK, I'll try with you.

Same question, as above.

How do you get a bus to Dawn Beach or Cupecoy?

I've never seen a 'route' that came very close to either of those, especially Dawn.

Now I need to add Oyster Pond to the question.

I know about the Cole Bay and Cost-U-Less transfers, but which routes take you near the mentioned destinations?
