I always bring down my own coffee to brew, but am thinking about trying some local coffee this time. What's your favorite that is available at Simply or another French Side market?

Kathleen,

Don't know if it's available in the French supermarkets but we truly enjoy Douwe Ebert (sp?) and always order a pound with our groceries to enjoy occasionally while there. Truth be known, we often pick up a pound later to bring home with us. <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/handshake.gif" alt="" /> <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/handshake.gif" alt="" />

Respectfully,

Close and good coffee. Douwe Egberts.

Personally, I prefer the Dutch coffee in the small green container.

I know it's fun to buy there and bring some home so you that can feel as if you are enjoying a taste from SXM every time you brew it.....but I now just order it on Amazon. <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Wink.gif" alt="" /> my luggage has weighed too much coming home in the past. <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/jester.gif" alt="" />

I've given up on buying and making coffee - prefer to get it on a morning walk
I can't seem to make a cup on island I like - my thought is it has to do with the taste of the water vs what I have at home
However a morning walk for coffee is a fair trade off for me

I agree with rural carrier: Douwe Egbert. Great coffee at SXM Yacht Club so I asked for name and was told Douwe.

However I can't remember which food market we got it at.

carte noir is available at the French supermarkets & is excellent. Watch the packaging though because it does come in espresso also. <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Thumbsup.gif" alt="" />

You are right. We always make our coffee with bottled water.

We take a smaller can of our favorite (Folgers 1/2 Caff) with us - lasts two weeks! Then we bring home sea glass or whatever in the can! <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Grin.gif" alt="" />
