None at Maho, none at Cupecoy, none at Happy Bay, none at Orient Beach. And we were at Orient three days during the week. We were pleasantly surprised !!! And plenty of beach in front of Maho, and even just to the left toward the airport road there was still a little beach. Then, of course, rocks the rest of the way toward Sunset Bar. But at least we didn't encounter any seaweed at the beaches we frequented.

Thanks for the beach report!

Did you check out the length of Orient, or just the Club O section?

<img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Clapping.gif" alt="" /> You may have seen us doing the Muriel n Paul (Peggy n Paul) run by the beach yesterday. Great weather and seas for that run. First of the new season.
Did see small patches of sargassum (seaweed) here and there as we made the round-the-island. Very minor amounts as compared to past influx of the stuff. We do see a little bit here and there following the current into Baie Lucas.
Other than old accumulations there seems to be little build-up on the beaches. Even Dawn beach which had reports of heavy accumulation looked free of the stuff.
Amazed at Happy Bay, so much sand and nice slope into water.
Bachi coconut was fun, guys won.

As I write this I can see the full length of Orient beach with binoculars from our condo at Mont Vernon. The south two thirds of the beach is clear of seaweed. From the rocky hill north to Mont Vernon there is lots of the nasty stuff. There is a front end loader (tractor) working on the beach in front of Palm Beach. Mont Vernon has cleared about half the beach from the pool out toward the surf so there is plenty of clear sand for guests. I have some photos and will try to post them.

Sounds like the seaweed problem is improving OR they are doing a better job of cleaning it up. Would appreciate an update on the Orient construction project, if you get down that way.

Gotta drag my sorry sandgravity a__ down that way soon.
Problem is one of the local crime types made off with our old outdated camera. Have some limited hopes of getting it back as perp was hauled off by gendarmes on Monday am.
