After reading here on the forum about the new rules AA placed for leaving out of STT, ie: arrive 3 hours early, etc., I decided to book a room for we two at Windward Passage for the day before departure. The WP was recommended by several folks here, including Mal (Manpot). I googled the hotel, clicked on the first link, copied down the toll free 866 number and called it. Turns out it was Expedia, so I thought WP used them for booking, so I gave them all the info, including credit card info, date's, number of guest's, etc. Every time I have ever booked a room in advance, my credit card was used to book the room, and wasn't charged until check out at the hotel. Imagine my surprise when checking my card's billing statement online I saw that Expedia immediately charged me for the room. Is this right? Anyone have any experience with Expedia? Is this their policy? Should I try to contact WP direct? Help and suggestions appreciated friends. And, is it May yet?

Why I NEVER book on Expedia!
If w/in 24 hours of booking, call and demand refund. Otherwise you're stuck with the booking.

WP hotel will be no help. They don't have your money

Many hotels, even when booking directly on their sites offer a prepaid rate which is often less expensive than the regular rate in theory. That this is an option is not always obvious and can be buried in fine print.

Well, at least we have a room, even if we did pay in advance. So at least we won't have to worry about a ferry running late from BVI and us missing our flight. Now for dinner restaurant recommendation's... <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/jester.gif" alt="" />

I seriously believe the AA rules are unenforceable, if anything more then a recommendation.

"Oceana" in Frenchtown is extremely good, romantic and historically amazing..that's our go-to dinner place now..you can reserve on their website. That said, Frenchtown is home to many good restaurants.." Hook, Line and Sinker" "Bella Blue" being just a couple..
