This was our 3rd trip to SXM,we have always stayed at the
Sonesta Maho (cheaper going AI from Toronto)We took a taxi
which cost $15 for 3 of us rather than waiting for the bus.
As it turned out we got an upgrade on our room because we were first to arrive.
Saturday - We stayed around resort and took advantage of AI
cocktails. Throughout the week they closed one of the restaurants for dinner and closed the buffet at lunch because it was so slow.
Sunday - Mullet beach is one of our favs and it did not disapoint, the water was great for swimming and it was very
busy. Sopranos for dinner was very good (was inc in AI)
Monday - Into town for a visit to DK Gems, Jeff as always
looked after us and stated that business was very good.
Taloula Mangos for lunch.
Tuesday - Anguilla for the day. The first ferry leaves at 8:15 we took the 9 instead. $5 Tax, $30 for the ferry return
and another $5 tax to leave the island. Taxi to Shoal Bay East was $62 return and that did not include tip. Lunch at
Uncle Ernies was average, but nothing about our day there
could have been better. This was our second time there and
with chairs, umbrella, food drink, transportation it averages $100 per person and is well worth it.
Wednesday - Another great day at Mullet and dinner at Paris Bistro was very good (was inc in AI)Drinks at Sopranos piano
bar with Jeff Abott entertaining was good fun in the evening
Thursday - Karacter at Simpson Bay was good, the water made for fun swimming. We ended up ordering drinks only but that
was all that was required for free chairs and umbrellas.The
6 beer for $12 is a daily beer special and a frozen drink was $6
We enjoyed our stay as always. The staff at the Sonesta were great as were all the people we ran into on the Island.
At no time did we feel unsafe.
