This is my first attempt at a trip report... We were on SXM from Feb 14-21 stayed at Oyster Bay Beach Resort

Flight: Flew out of Minneapolis on Sun Country airlines - no problems at all. Arrived early!!

Car rental - Rented for the first time from Kenny's. Just as everyone on this board has said - great service was there as planned and we were good to go.

Chairs and Umbrella - Rented from Pack lite - they met us right outside of the airport doors with our chairs and umbrella just as planned. Now we are off and headed to Oyster Pond.... not so fast, the bridge is up! Waited almost an hour sitting in traffic waiting for the bridge. So even though our flight was early and car & chairs were on time, we still arrived at OBBR later than expected.

Check-in was super easy an we were set-up in a beach side one bedroom suite on the 3rd floor over looking Dawn Beach. We own at OBBR and each time we stay we like it even more! SInce today was Valentines Day and we had made reservations in advance at Captain Oliver's for the Saturday night seafood buffet. Cost is $45 per person great variety: lobster, ham, prime rib, grouper and several kinds of fresh fish. Lots to choose from one of my hubbies favorites. After dinner walked to the Dingy Dock to see our friends/wait staff Lindsey and Kurt who we met last year. They remembered us from last year and we caught up with them and had a few cocktails. The Dingy Dock has become sort of our tradition several nights during our stay.

Next day (sunday) went to Orient Beach - beautiful day lots of sunshine. Had breakfast at Baywatch - Andys fresh blueberry pancakes...mmmm! Also ate lunch here (Baywatch has become another favorite as you can tell) had the Buffalo Shrimp a must!

Now I cannot remember the order of things - as my brain was on vacation. Here are a few of the places we ate:

Big Fish: Another must. Hurricane Shrimp appetizer. I asked if I could just order this with some noodles and make a meal of it. This stuff is awesome. We both ordered the Crab stuffed Mahi Mahi with lobster sauce - one of our favorite meals of the week. Great food and wonderful service.

Talk of the Town lolo Grand Case - always a good deal. Went on Harmony nights fun time.

Dingy Dock - Very good ribs!

La Frigate - Oyster Pond. FIrst time here, would definitely go back. I had shrimp scampi in a pastry puff - hubby had a steak. Both were outstanding! Will definitely return.

Pineapple Petes - Always great food and service!! Wanted to go for dinner but schedule did not allow, so we had lunch there one day. They have the best caribbean jerk wings - my hubby is a wing connoisseur and he actually ordered a second plate - so they must be good. I had the Jerk Chicken Wrap very yummy!

Peg Leg Pub - Like the new location (could be that I like to gamble) and setting. The night we went we brought our new friends from Boston so we needed a table for 4. It was Friday night and the place was packed! We were lucky because as we walked up a person had just cancelled their reservation for 4. We got right in. I had the Lobster Thermadour and he had a T-Bone steak. Mine was outstanding! He said the steak was not as good as other years... Our friends had the Bourbon Steak - that was flavorful and we all said we would order that item again. We will return!

Lees Roadside Grill - our first time there after reading many comments. The portions here are huge!!! I had a grilled Mahi Mahi sandwich and he had Chicken and Ribs. Both were very good. Glad we tried this place would not hesitate dining here again.

We got breakfast many days at a bakery in Oyster Pond. Cannot recall the name of the place but they had wonderful bakery goods. This was a new stop for us and we will certainly return.

Few other things:

Happy Bay - We had read about Happy Bay and Danny and wanted to try this beach this year and I am happy to say we made it to Happy Bay. This place is beautiful! Ordered a couple of beers from Danny and had a large plate of ribs. Very good food, very cheap. Danny is a great guy who works very hard to please his customers. If you get a chance and have never been there it would recommend taking the hike. We did not encounter any problems on our walk to or from Friers beach where we parked. We did encounter a "bushwhacker" who did not bother us - we just moved further down the beach so we did not have to see him.

DK Gems and Deepti - My favorite jewelry store of all! I had purchased a ring several years ago and another last year. Brought them in to have them checked and cleaned. Always wonderful service - I adore her! She also showed us a couple of pieces that I have added to my wish list for our next trip!!!

Casinos - OBBR takes a bus from the resort to the Hollywood casino on Monday nights. Always a fun night with other OBBR guests. Although my hubby does not gamble, last year he made friends with the bartender who commented on his Minnesota Twins hat. Turns out her son Rene Leverant plays in the Twins minor league system ! Hubby being a big twins fan, and her a proud momma talked baseball all night. She was working again this year so they were able to catch up on the Twins. I was able to gamble and took home quite a bit more than I went with so we were both happy!! Also went to the Princess casino after dining a Peg Leg - won there too, so I was happy!

Traffic - I thought it was better than last year - but I am not driving. My husband thinks it stinks!

Crime - We did not have any problems at all. We never left anything in the car, always walked in groups, were cautious and aware of surroundings. I like that OBBR has security gate and saw lots of security in Oyster Pond area.

We had another wonderful trip and are already planning the next one!!
