Heard from a recent visitor that the erosion at Club O has continued and that there was only room for one row or chairs with major drop offs. Can anyone confirm...

The most recent photos from the new development between Pedro's and Kon Tiki show that almost all of the set-back has been lost to erosion.

I know that the classic response is that the beach comes and goes but never this much in my 20 yeas of experience...

We were there last week. There were two rows & a bit. The guys were putting some up on the higher ground grass above the sand level. Also club o has trucked in a large amount of sand down near papagayo & big rocks to keep erosion down at that end. No seaweed there & you can most days see in the water. Last year murky after the hurricane in October. All in all great spot to sit.

There is a good drop down when you go in the water.

I really wonder if the sea wall they put it to protect Papagayo has changed the currents and caused bigger problems...

Hmmm. Not sure. I counted at least 110 umbrellas from the water. Some people also had their own as well. Very busy for November. Our guy we rent from says the busiest November in years. Grand case very busy at night!

We bring our own chairs and umbrella. When we arrived two weeks ago we were able to sit in the back between Perch and Pedros, but for the last few days it is too narrow and we have been sitting right next to the Perch. If we want to sit on the south side of the Perch we would have to go almost down to Papagayo to sit. Hope some beach comes back before end of January.

High Season coming up soon. More people/less beach results in personal space reduction. For me that means taking a long walk to smoke my cigar but opportunity to make new friends.

Yeah, the Club O WebCam shows the front row yellow umbrellas in total lockstep! Up close and personal looks to be the ROE...enjoy!

I appreciate your consideration. Wish more people were as thoughtful as you regarding their smoke.

I've been here almost two weeks. The beach is rebuilding near Pedro's and if it does what it did last year, it will rebuild widely over much of its length. Dunno why, but it did that last year and I expect it will do it this year. I walked through the water in front of Papagayo last March and hope to do it again soon.

I like the way you think Tom, the walk also allows you to justify another drink or bite!

The beach at Club O is getting narrower over the last two weeks. When we arrived there were 2 rows of chairs between Perch and Club O border. Yesterday there was only one row and between Perch and almost all the way to Papagayo there were only 2 rows. A third row of chairs can be found on Club O property just behind the beach fence, but don't know if non guests would be able to use them.

We got here 11/10 and erosion near Papagayo was bad BUT I can tell you the beach has been building back noticeably, especially in the last 10 days or so.

Does the "building back" of the beach include the Papagayo area?
