I'm getting hungry all over again reviewing the places we ate.
Breakfast was incld with room at GCBC. After our stay there we ate at L'ile Flottante twice for crepes, lemon for me, ham & cheese for the others. The bird symphony was great.
LaSucrier twice for raisin buns and cinnemon buns with delicious French coffee. Planned on Zee Best but never made it.
Croissantier at Marina Royal. The guys had American Breakfast and the gals had crepes--potato & cheese for me, ham for Ellen--all great. I tried the hot chocolate since weather was dismal and it lifted my spirits.
Baywatch for omelets. And, I guess we could add Karakter's as a breakfast stop since we started with Bloody Mary's & coffee at 10 am followed later by frozen lemonades, bacon wrapped dates, Bittenbotten, followed still later by Italian sandwiches made with cream chz and italian ham--delicious, and greek salad and a bucket of beers. It was the best day--good food good beach.
LUNCHES: except for burgers at SSBB and Pasangrahaan, we ate on lanai of condo from provisions gotten from Wine Select, Le Bounty, US Imports, Fresh Market. Roti Chicken, salad fixins, pate, baggetes, cheeses, guadaloupe melon, pineapple and other fruits.
DINNERS: Sky Lolo red snapper wth all the fixins.
L'Estimenet best choice this trip, ate here 3 times. 1st visit: Rack of Lamb, Duck Breast, Pork medallions, Creme Brule sampler. 2nd visit: Onion soup to die for! Lamb, Beef with truffles, Salmon. 3rd visit we all had the Beef. Hostess Carole is a sweetheart!
Spiga: last year's favorite this years dissappointment. Poor service, so-so food. Even tho there were only 3 other tables dining we had to wait a half hr before they took our drink order. Then our entrees arrived before Ellen's & George's---George's was wrong so we waited again. Don's Roast Pork was better than our Rack of Lamb which was no comparrison to L'Estimenet.
Sol e Luna always good! 3 Filet Mignon, 1 Dover Sole.
Mark's Place all you can eat ribs didn't disappoint.
Ti Coin Creole food was good but not the best probably wldn't go back
Le Taiitu Great! 3 Veal in mushroom creme sauce, 1 creole chicken. The leeks poached in creme was a delight to the palate. Etna Rhum Raisin for dessert.
Restaurant Soliel GC a bit of a disappointment only because we didn't know the 2nd Thurs of each month is Alsace nite sausages and saurkraut. Were we the only Americans in a fully booked place so I guess the food is good if you like that sort of thing.
We had rsvp at Rare but our friends didn't think they wanted to pay 3 times what we could get USDA Prime at home so we cancelled.
Only other bad meal was Greenhouse.
We went for the prime rib special. After a long ait, waitress took our order, returned with drinks, left then returned to say no Rib. George thgt it was a ploy to get people in then have them order something more expensive. We said if no Rib then take the drinks we'd go elsewhere. She said she'd ck again and miracously 4 Primes were available. Maybe George was right? Then service went downhill. We ahd to go to hostess to locate our waitress. When bill came Ellen didn't think we should leave a tip. We convinced her to leave 10%. Don left to get the car at Bobby's since we had 2 mins left on our free 2 hrs and we'd meet on the street. The waitress ran after us yelling we'd stiffed her a tip. Everyone around stared so we quietly said we'd be happy to return inside to the manager to discuss it. She swore at us and told us to leave.
Libations: SSBB, Calmos Cafe, Quay Oust.
BEACHES: Karakter (Simpon?) Maho, crowded; Baie Longue beautiful; Prune Bay rocky; GCBC great shade; Divi, Baywatch, LeGalion, Anse Marcel, Friar's.
I'm sure I've left out things, sorry memory not so great. Guess that means I'll just have to go back soon.
