does anyone use Roku while on island? I think it might be especially helpful if you stay on the french side and don't have TV in english. I'm just wondering if any one is having success?

I am using a Roku right now on the French side at the Mont Vernon. The unit I have has internet access from Dauphin which is "ilimitee telecharger" or unlimited downloads. The Roku 3 I have works great. As long as you have good WiFi and an Hdmi port or RCA connectors (depending on your Roku and TV models) you are good to go. In my place the router allowed me Admin access to I was able to set Unotelly DNS servers as my default routers which gave me access to US Netflix, HBO, ShowTimeAnytime, CBS All Access etc.

Sungodess, where you buy this should tell you where & how it works including what connections you will need. This is a case where you should visit a store on island and "pick their brains" on the subject and buy there or have the info before you buy on line.

I use Apple TV on the Dutch side.

Brilliant, many channels and Netflix.

Beautiful interface and access to my I-Cloud films and music + thousands of radio channels.

pindgar, it seems to me that you hacked the router to make it work. Do any of these devices work out of the box?
In my experience Netflix on my Blu-ray player did not work without messing with the DNS on router and the fix is only temporary.

No hacking took place, that is illegal. I had administrator rights and used them to add DNS routes to Unotelly servers. However even if I did not add the DNS entries the content on Netflix was still abundant it just lacked some of the US content such as West Wing that I was currently watching (I know....way behind on my TV watching). The Roku or Apple TV are both good choices for watching content if you have a good internet connection. I own 4 Roku devices and they are all different models. I like the Roku 3 and the Roku Stick the best especially the RF as opposed to infrared remote with a built in headphone jack on the remote for the Roku 3. If my wife wants to go to sleep while I watch the Ottawa Senators and we are in the same room....no problem <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Clapping.gif" alt="" />!
