There used to be a wonderful waterside restaurant on Simpson Bay called LaPavilion. It was wonderful but sadly, gone for at least twenty years or so. I doubt that's the one you had in mind - not much of a help this morning, am I - but it was truly wonderful in its day.

Very correct Elizabeth. Like anything else, it is a tool or a guide but also based on opinions. We use TripAdvisor at times for hotels when it is a place we are not familiar with, sometimes the reviews are spot on and other times they are way off.
With regards to restaurants on TripAdvisor, I find the reviews there highly unreliable. I often see chain restaurants rated way ahead of independent restaurants and in many cases I personally find the restaurant reviews way off. One of the worst meals and service we have had in the past 2 years was a highly rated steak house. After eating there I wondered how they stay in business, let alone get good reviews.
TripAdvisor seems to solicit reviews and often a place will solicit customers for positive reviews to be posted.
Hope your trip home was uneventful.

That has been our experience too with Trip Advisor for the most part.
We did have a good trip home;no problems at all. We are still enjoying mild weather here and no sign of snow so that is nice too.

I agree 100%. There are some strange reviews on restaurants in SXM that really make you wonder what Tripadvisor is getting up to. Their Forums are even stranger. Negative comments on restaurants that are overrated are systematically removed. I started to mistrust Tripadvisor ratings and then spent a few days undertaking a study of Tripadvisor issues (I am a journalist). What I found was way beyond anything I could have imagined. I now never trust their comments at all.
