Just go online and Google BVI Charter Boats. You will get more than enough options. We have used TMM (Tortola Marine Management) for the last 15 years and been very happy. I guess I wouldn't limit myself to Fat Hogs Bay just for the restaurant!!

I keep going back to Voyage in Soper's Hole. It appears I can get a better price and other locations, but they know me, give me a discount, I don't need a briefing before departure, and they respond promptly to any issues. The others are good options also, just that Voyage makes it a little simple for me.

That said ... I don't know about the best deal. I chartered a first tier Voyage only one year old and had an electric breaker go out and black water pump-out check value fail. Both were quickly attended to by the charter company. It seems like every boat has some complex systems that will fail, and quick attention by the charter company is very important. I don't know how you avoid this.

Exactly the same reason we charter with Voyage a couple times a year. <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Clapping.gif" alt="" />

My first charter was with CYC in 1990. It was a 55' Morgan ketch. Since then we have used the Moorings 20 times. Never had a problem with the boat. Once spun a prop on the dinghy motor. They gave us credit for the lost time.

Mike, I used to spend a huge amount of time on the Tradewinds dock, great location close to the airport but crap for provisioning. I knew the entire cast of characters and watched the spiral downhill. Most of the former management is still in the boating business.

I think that dock is just private boats.

Hi Mike kneafsey, been a long time since we last chatted sounds like you are saying that Scot f is still around?? last I heard he was seen at Annapolis bot show back around 2004 or so I will check them all out but a few good reports have me looking very hard at a few charter companies I'd try voyage except they only have cats and I insist on the old Mono hulls<img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Woof.gif" alt="" /> <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Woof.gif" alt="" /> <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Woof.gif" alt="" /> <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Woof.gif" alt="" />

the dock is still there. "Susan" who used to run upstairs bar and restaurant for Eddie Wheatley is no longer there and neither is restaurant (upstairs) we have a pool side bar/restaurant one. A European company running charter boats out of there is called "Med-Caribbean charters"
any number of charter companies here now, pick one with a boat/price u like and drive out East for a little nostalgia smile

Pro-Valor run by Jim and Cecelia has been there for a while now; moved one dock east from where the Med-Caribbean crew are now. Close to airport and Rite-Way for at least most supplies. Lots of mono's if that is what you are craving. Probably getting the boat you want is the most important though convenience doesn't hurt. Just being there is the thing!

If you're looking for a good value with great service, Pro Valor is the right choice. Jim and Cecelia run a grade A operation. Terrific people. I've only chartered with them one time but I'd gladly recommend them to anyone. My charter boat had a few issues (as ALL 3rd tier boats do) but they were "johnny on the spot" fixing everything and always did it with a smile.

Scott Farquharson was kinda persona non grata on Tortola after TYC closed the door. I know he was up in the states, and working for Dream at one point recently, but his facebook indicates that he is currently working for SunSail and living in the UK.

Joe,
Harbour View Restaurant was was built by Eddie Wheatley (and some other family members). He first rented the restaurant to Mike Fischer and Dorothea Robb, who outfitted it with restaurant equipment and opened June 2000. They sold the lease and restaurant equipment to Suzanne (not "Susan"), who was there December 2003 to April 2006, when he broke the lease after finding someone willing to pay more (Phillip Fenty, who made it oriental food). After the oriental place moved to Road Town, Neil Cline (now de Loose Mongoose) was there (Blu Restaurant). And now, another local is in there, as you said.

Eddie was a landlord, not a restaurateur, despite what he likes to tell people.

Looks like PVC currently has 13 monos and 7 cats. Jim, Cecilia and Egbert are the best.

PVC is located at James Young Marina, which is SEVERAL docks to east of where Harbour View Marina is located. It is in back of where RiteBreeze USED to be, as opposed to where RiteWay currently is.
