Hi: We already have airport transfers we would like to rent a car in Grand Case as it is near to our villa, just for a few days? I have looked up the companies on line, appears to be 3, has anyone rented from Grand Case and can give me recommendation or tip? Thanks in advance

grand case is only a fifteen minute ride from the airport via causeway. why not just rent at the airport and save a bunch of money, since most of the rental car outlets are either at the airport or cruise docks. will be cheaper for you in the end.

Ed,

Heather mentioned this is her FIRST time to SXM, and she already has transfers to her rental. Personally, if it were me and given those facts, I think I'd look for a car rental agency that would deliver a vehical to the condo either late on her arrival day or early the next morning. Those who are long-timers/frequent visitors tend to forget how confusing the signage (or lack thereof?) can be.

But to Heather I would suggest as others have, there is not much of anything that is safely walkable from your rental location. A car (or even two?) for your group of six would probably be less costly and more convenient in the end over arranging for and depending on local taxis or island transport in general. There is a company in Grand Case, perhaps Paradise?, that we have used once through our regular car rental agency and I believe you can get a Hertz rental through the Grand Case Beach Club, but that can also be confusing to find as a first-timer.

Welcome to St. Martin, Heather. I hope you learn to love it as much as so many of us do. <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/handshake.gif" alt="" /> <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/handshake.gif" alt="" />

I responded to your other note, didn't see that you had posted this.

There isn't a reason to limit yourself to car rental companies in Grand Case per se. I would suggest that you contact a couple of TTOL sponsors and ask them if they will deliver your car to your villa. Most will do that.

Prestige is the company that rents at out of the lobby at GCBC. It might be an easy way to get a rental:

Prestige

we've used Prestige for a day or two rental when we've stayed at GCBC and they're reasonable

Thank you for the correction regarding Prestige, and I'm thinking that may be the company I was thinking of in reference to my other comment citing Paradise.....

Thank you to everyone, I think I will investigate having the rental delivered, we really are a bit out of the way but absolutely love the rental so we will have to learn the island and figure out which area we like the best. This forum is super and I really appreciate all the help. We will be there for only one week and hope to stay longer next time!![color:"brown"][/color]
