Decent??? Fantastic price for most anyone who's not travelling from the NY area and most of the country would be ecstatic for any nonstop flight, let alone at that price!

Correct, many will pay 2-3 times that and WITH a connection.

Why is it then when the East coast fares go over $400 to $450 the people scream and whine like crazy? That is my basis for any comparison. That is still a great price (and many would be very happy with that price) compared to many others but is seems to set off a nerve in the East coast crowd.
More power to those that can get that fare but many others are paying 2-3 times that, with a connection.

Because the area has a history of low fares...so if they are used to paying less than $400 they ASSUME they will always have that price and comment if they don't get it (appropriately). I would jump at $400-450 which, I will add, is still the going rate for BOS (with a connection). It has nothing to do with the prices from Washington state, Chicago or FL. Granted it doesn't get ANY sympathy from those who look at $650 as a decent fare. It's like living near the beach but complaining that you have to drive 30 minutes to get there. Not much sympathy from the Kansas people.....

In 1983 we paid $359.00 pp for r/t n/s flights from JFK to SXM times four and since then and throughout the years we've paid anywhere from that low amount to a high of $759.00 pp for the same flights at the same time of year. It is what it is and it's the price we pay but I strongly doubt, if I had to pay the price some of you pay and then jump through the hoops and hurdles you have to deal with, I'd go nearly as often as we do. Two stops can be a hassle but three? I don't think so...call us Tri-staters spoiled if you will but there are other prices we pay dearly for and in the end, I think it's probably all a wash!
