Grand Marche supermarket was burglarized on Christmas day. The thieves make their way into the supermarket via the roof.

When I read the comments, I get the impression that a burglary is as bad as an armed robbery.

Obviously I do not approve of burglaries, but they are not as dangerous as armed robberies and very often committed by a very different set of criminals.

The main issue here is armed robberies where criminals don't hesitate to fire on people.

Let's not get hysterical about crime here, it does nobody any good.

And lets NOT joke about it or attempt to find humor in it either.

Oh my. That is some really messed up logic. Using that effort at reason than shooting someone and wounding them but not killing them is more tolerable than if the bullett finished the person off. Burglaries can get very violent if the intruders encounter police or other people. How are things on the planet your on ?

This is not the USA.

People do not have guns at home. Possessing a gun is a criminal offense in SXM, therefore a burglar will rarely be armed and fire.

Do the criminals follow the law in SXM? Like in the US or ANYWHERE, if they did follow the law it would make life much simpler.

LOL having a gun is a criminal offense. Is burglary a hobby? They are both criminal and criminals do not have alot of concern for the law. Oh my !!!

Both of you do not get my point.

Seeing that gun possession is a crime here, people do not have guns in their homes. This means that burglars are not armed.

I was burglarized last year and was face to face with the guy. He pushed my aside and ran for it. No guns.

I can understand that coming from the US where most people have a gun in their house, a burglar will shoot quickly.

Here it is not the case.

So ALL the burglars follow the law?? Seems odd they would resort to being a burglar if is this were indeed the case.

Not every household in the US has a gun either.

Why would a burglar who would probably face a few months prison carry a gun, for which just the possession will lead to 2 years inside ?

Burglars are not idiots.

Unbelievable logic.

BTW, according to one study, less than 1/3 of US households had a gun in 2014. You need to do a little more research it seems.

Oh mercy me. This whole series of replies is ridiculous. Crime is out of control on SXM. Anyone that looks at the situation logically will see that. Regardless, there is nothing good that can come from this whole thread and it is done.
