Hello Board and Happy 2016 to you! I am planning a trip to SXM for May/June of 2016 and have a question about the Flamingo. When we were there in October of 2014, Hurricane Gonzalez came through. We were flooded out of our third floor room by water coming in the slider, the front door, walls, and ceiling. We abandoned ship for the fourth floor when water got into electrical panel and left us in the dark. The fourth floor room was flooded as well, but the bed was dry. OK, that was the scenario and I wrote a trip report about that night and the rest of our ten days there. It was a good trip and we made the best of it as the Flamingo Staff was amazing.

What I need to know is has there been any reports of problems with mold at the Flamingo due to this flooding of the rooms back in 2014? Owners PLEASE comment. I was wondering if there was any flood/mold remediation or necessary maintenance done to avoid this possibility?

The Flamingo is one of several places we are considering as we have been to SXM sixteen times before skipping 2015 in lieu of a stateside family vacation. I am not trying to stir up problems, I just need to know as I am in charge of hotels and flights.

Thank you in advance for any constructive comments.

Best regards, Mike.

Boy, I own at the Flamingo in one of the newer buildings, so I don't know the answer to your question first hand. However, I haven't heard anything when we have been there since 2014 about mold or any other problem with building 7. If there was I think I would have heard something.

No mold in building seven this last May. We were on forth floor and had no issues. Guests around the resort were not talking about mold problems.

Thanks, Scubaman. Were in the building that overlooks the shared beach with the Pelican and almost over Topper's rest.

That is building seven. Some refer to it as the main building where the studios are with a couple of two bed rooms on the point. There is also a block of one bedroom units in that building too.
