Who has any knowledge of the Moorings 393PC. We have one chartered for the 3rd week in May. Looking for pros and cons and any other useful information. My other option is the Marine Max two cabin 37'? cat. There are 4 of us on the charter. The 393 seems to be a larger boat, but not sure if it's worth the difference in cost.
Thanks

We have two chartered for last week of Feb - have been on them in the past. They motor at about 8-9 knots. The '36 used to "bob like a cork". The '49 rides more like a lexus. The "39s are somewhere in between. Its great to have the starboard cabin with the big bathroom/head in the bow. But, everyone adopts it has the universal head by day #2. We love it and chose to get two of these instead of one '49 > 6 cabins/two dinghies > added an extra paying couple (hard to find).

We looked at the Marine Max 38 (37?) last year and it looked a bit cramped. I'd go with the 393 after doing a tour of one.

Hi Wayne,

We chartered one last June and thoroughly enjoyed it, though this being our first power cat charter I have nothing to compare it to. Felt we had plenty of room for two couples, ran great and was fairly straight-forward to handle once I got the hang of it. The only issue I can think of was I had trouble knowing if the boat was in neutral when I was trying to do idle speed maneuvering, like picking up a ball.

I'd be happy to answer any specific questions if you have any.

Rick

Had one for a week last November. Nice boat. Plenty of room for two couples especially as you would have the third cabin for storage. Given the option I'd look at the PCX version with the bigger engines. Better performance and still excellent fuel efficiency.

I've never been on the marine max, but I did research them a bit. The 393 is certainly a bigger platform than the MM. Accordingly, I assume it will ride somewhat better. If I recall correctly, the berths on the MM 38' were a fair bit smaller.

If you have specific questions I'm happy to help as I can.

Thanks everyone I think I made my mind up to spend a few extra $$ and go with the 393. I'm sure I'll have more questions about the trip as it gets closer, such as what ferry company to take, transportation to and from Moorings in Tortola etc. I'm planning on contacting Kevin in St. Thomas for a ride to the ferry slips. He seems to be highly recommended by almost everyone here. And I know I'll have a ton of questions about our 8 day itinary.
