Wondering what the mooring situation is for an overnight at Guana. We are heading down in 37 days and was curious about how many moorings there were there and what time they have been filling up by. Also, I know the beach is part of a resort but I thought I read somewhere that if you stay to the far end you are ok. Thanks.

There are molding balls at white bay. If it is windy you will be rocking quite a bit. I have also heard that about the far side of the beach. Also heard that if there is nobody there... The staff will sell ice for a "tip".

I've experienced a wind/current combination at Guana such that we hovered over the mooring ball most of the night with it tapping the hull. Beautiful anchorage and well worth this minor annoyance. Thanks - Mark

Thanks for the responses. I suppose we will give it a shot. Spent the night in Marina Cay last year, but looking to change it up a bit. Will probably stop at Marina Cay for a couple pain killers and then head over to Guana for some snorkeling and to spend the night.

White Bay, Guana Island has become one of our favorite overnight anchorages. Not many people use it. Easy to dinghy over to Monkey Pt without worrying about getting a day mooring there. It has (IMHO) one of the best beaches in the BVI and yes, you can stroll on it. There are some nice coral heads between the White Bay moorings and the beach. Being fairly small and close to the beach, they are filled with juvenile versions of the larger fish you see in other places.

While you stop at Marina Cay, do not miss snorkeling Diamond Reef!! It's the reef across from Scrub Island. Look for the dinghy moorings, then snorkel toward the cut between Scrub and Camanoe. We think that is some of the best snorkeling in the BVI.

Will be down April 1-9, will definitely check out Diamond Reef

Marina Cay is on our itinerary this spring so will definitely add Diamond Reef to the snorkeling list!
