I will be going to the states for less than a week. I will be bringing my SXM iPhone with chippie (UTS)...Is there a way for me to make calls within the states without having a provider? If I'm in wifi, I guess I can skype...

Going to OIB? <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Groovin.gif" alt="" />

I'm guessing your best option is a prepaid cell phone, but less than a week is a pretty short time.

You might want to check out T-Mobile.

Here's a link: T-Moblie SIM Starter

Make sure your phone is compatible, and then you can put minutes on it and go.

The problem here is that there are so many different providers, and their coverage doesn't always overlap. Where I live, Verizon is pretty much the only reliable provider. I know that Walmart sells prepaid plans, so you may be able to get a sim card for your phone there. That would be the first place I'd check if I were you.

I don't think your Chippie / UTS phone will work at all in the U.S. I've turned mine on in the U.S. and there is simply no signal received.

It was good to see you again the other day.

You can roam with Chippie, both pre-paid and post-paid. Click on either link that applies to you.

Have you done it in a while? You should get either a T-mobile signal or AT&T signal with a message saying you are roaming with chippie.

The roaming is only good for calling back to SXM & cannot be used to call anywhere else. You do roam with AT&T but Chippie does not allow any calls except back home (SXM).
