Quick trip report for St John - June 13-20. First trip to St. John and oh, my, was St. John beautiful. I've planned this trip for over a year to celebrate a big birthday. Rented a 2 bedroom place on Monte Bay. What a great house! Whimsical, fun and a view that never ended. Visited Trunk Beach, Hawksnest beach, Cinnamon Bay, Maho, and Salt Pond. Had one day that was a complete rain-out - played rowdy games of cards with the kids. My favorite beach was Salt Pond - kids & I saw lots of turtles, a nurse shark, barracuda, lobster, spider looking crab and a variety of other sea life. Unfortunately my underwater camera developed a seal problem and I ended up with some moisture inside the housing so not too many underwater shots. The hike wasn't difficult as I had been led to believe so we went back a second day. Highlights included watching the stars from the deck on the house, (the house even had 3 books on the night sky)seeing all the marine life and being the only people for a few hours on Salt Pond beach, my first blue cheese burger from Skinnylegs, coffee and listening to the sounds of the waves while the kids were still asleep, watching the kids really get comfortable snorkeling. We also had one nice dinner out at Zozo's. I cooked the other nights and we enjoyed the company of the frogs and when I would grill, a local dog, Chili. Only downside was the amount of Mosquitoes because of all the recent rain - especially at waterlemon cay - we didn't stay as even with half a bottle of Off - we managed to provide lunch for well over 200 hungry females. Trust me - the kids counted every last bite. Not a happy night - <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/cloud.gif" alt="" /> made it up to my teenage daughter by sitting in the starfish market parking lot so she could facebook on my phone. Really enjoyed the trip and would love return someday.
