I'll bite to keep this active
We looked at several hotels this winter - an option for us if the Cdn $ stays low, we can book some of them thru a Cdn holiday pkg in Cdn $'s [cheaper than their web site US $ rates]
We prefer to be more mid or south on the beach. Esmeralda looked nice but too far north for us. We looked at Alamanda and liked the look. Any comments on Alamanda? Looked at L'Hoste / La Playa, seemed a little tired?

Central Florida!
Alamanda is the newest larger hotel on Orient, although even it is a few years old now. The location is definitely much more central than Esmeralda. Esmeralda's pull over the years has been their private pools for each building and, for some, the nude section of the beach. I have not visited Es for a very long time. It was looking pretty tired at one point, but don't know about now. For someone who knows ALL about all the resorts on Orient, suggest you contact TTOL sponsor Jim Ruos, at Caribbean Islands Travel Service. Orient is all he does! Just go to the TTOL sponsor list and scroll down.

We stayed at Alamanda for a few days last year and will be staying there again this fall. Love the location - on the beach and can walk to the village for dinner. Wonderful continental breakfast included!

We stayed at Palm Court for three days before being able to get into our rental house. It was very clean, comfortable and great access to beach etc. The pool area was clean and very up to date. We would definitely stay here again. Reasonable rates!
