April 22nd: Wake up at 3 and drive to Charlotte for 7am flight to Atlanta. Plane is cancelled for mechanical reasons so we get on a later flight to Atlanta. Arrive to late for our connection grab the next flight to St Thomas. This flight will get us in an hour later. While boarding we notice you can upgrade to first class for 100 bucks each. Done There are 6 more open seats in first class but they won’t let people upgrade because of their class letter on their tickets. This is the dumbest thing I have ever seen. You are pissing away 600 bucks. This is why airlines fail. We were expecting to have to wait for the 4:30 ferry but we grab the 3:30 and are in Tortola by 4:30. Customs was easy and we were off to Jerry’s to get our truck. We get the truck and wait for Lyn to show us the way to Toa Toa house. We take the crazy road up to the house and we are floored by the house and the view. We head back to Pussers Sopers Hole and grab dinner. Hit Big Ben’s for beers and head home. Half a beer later and I am sound asleep with the windows and doors wide open. We never turn the AC on for the trip.
April 23rd: Head to Roadtown for provisions. It takes me about 20 minutes to find a spot to park at Riteway. I then ask a local how to get to Tico’s. I realize, while he is giving me directions, that I am not listening to him so we decide to head home. I miss the turn and end up going east on the main road when I notice Tico,s across the way. I think this is what they mean by dumb luck. We buy a bunch of booze and head to Sopers for the rest of the provisions. We head back to the house and wait for text messages from our friends that their ferry is in. I head down and pick up the other 4 guest and the meat cooler and head home. All meat is still frozen so we hit Pussers for dinner. Go back to the house for 9 ball and beers. Each nigh the wind blows heavy and we have some rain. The trade winds up 150 meters makes everything very comfortable.
April 24th: Up early for breakfast and then down to Smugglers for the day. Smugglers is the choppiest I have ever seen. The snorkeling was bad and I got caught to far out by Gun Point. I finally am getting close to shore when I notice I have been pushed into the coral where the waves are breaking. I calm myself and snake my way out of the coral and into the shallows. I am completely spent at this time so I sit my fat butt in a chair for an hour. It took me a good day to get my strength back. We decide to spend the rest of the time in close and chuck the football. Back home for a nice dinner of fish and dogs. Beers and wine till bedtime.
April 25th Up early for breakfast and we decide to stay at the house for the day. We enjoy the pool and buy some more provisions. It starts to rain about 4 so we eat, drink, watch the draft and play wii golf. To bed early.
April 26th: Up early for breakfast and head to Sopers to catch Kuralu for a day sail to Jost. We hit Sandy Spit for our first stop and the first of many beers. We head off to White Bay and hit One Love for some beers and Bushwackers. It is nice to see Raquel again and then we head back to the boat for lunch. My memory starts to fade out around here. I know I rode back on the trampoline and got a nice bath. I also know I had more beers and Bushwackers at Pusser upon return. I somewhat recall eating wings at the house but that is all I have for the rest off the night.
April 27th: Repeat April 24th without the trip into the coral.
April 28th: Repeat April 27th plus we meet RickinAtlanta. We have our first problem with vacationing as a group. I overhear a friend saying that she doesn’t think I am contributing enough in the kitchen, I can barely make toast so I try and stay out of the way, so she has the others get up and leave me with the dishes. I now have to decide if I am going to remind her of all of the things I have done to get this trip in line or am I just going to clean up. I decide for the sake of peace that I will just clean up and try and do more the rest of the time. Off to bed early.
April 29th: Up real early and head to Roadtown to catch the 7am ferry to Anegada. We are the first ones on Cow Wreck by 9am. This has to be the most perfect place on earth. We drink beers and Daquris, throw the football and shoot some pool and the overly grassy table. We than have a nice lunch and Jerry picks us up and takes us to Loblolly. We grab a couple of benches and head into snorkel. I am still a little wigged out by my Smugglers experience so I don’t head out to far. My buddy spends about a half hour out by the break and gets some nice pictures of a turtle and some big rays. Jerry picks us up and drops us off buy the ferry dock. He only charged us $12.00 per person for the whole day. We have a couple of beers at local bar while the ladies shop and than jump on the ferry. We get back to Roadtown and decide that we have given enough money to Pussers so we head to Spaghetti Junction and have an awesome meal. Than back to the house for beer, music and late night 9 ball.
April 30th: Up early for breakfast and head to Sopers for our second trip on Kuralu., this time to Norman Island. This is the first day that the wind was not up so it was a long sail to Norman.. We do some nice snorkeling and than a great lunch and then we take a long sail back to Sopers. We head back to the house for dinner and we watch the Space Hippies episode of Star Trek (Herbert). Late night beers and 9 ball.
May 1st: We head to Smugglers to say goodbye for another year. We try our best to drink the bar out of Red Stripe but we came up a little short. We head back to Toa Toa and finish the rest of our meats and provisions. We try and stay up late but we only make it till 9pm
May2nd: Up early to take one couple to catch the 7am ferry than the rest of us head down and catch the 10:300 ferry. We hit StThomas and than head off for some lunch. Carnival is going on but it didn’t slow things down. We walk back to the taxi stand and pick up our bags and then head to the airport. We try and upgrade but this time we have the wrong class letter so no can do. This is another $200 that Delta pissed away. All flights are on time so we are home in bed by 1am.
