The thread about Cooper got me thinking about the old places that once were:
Pirates Pub on Saba Rock
Drakes Anchorage before the laundry blew up.
The rum custard at the old Cooper Island Beach Club
Billy Bones in the Bight
Donovans Reef on Scrub
Coco Plum skillet mushrooms
Palms Delight ginger wine chicken...
The C&F when Clarence was running the grill
Trellis Bay Cyber Cafe

Obviously some places just change too...
Whistling Pines after Sam moved to Potters.
Jolly Roger in Sopers.

How about Last Resort back when the donkey would poke it's head through the door?

Years ago at C&F, when the grocery shelves in the back were stocked pretty well, 4 of us had a great dinner. They had an almost new bottle of Frangelico out on the counter. We each ordered a glass. When we were ready to leave, we asked if they had a full bottle they could sell us to take back to the boat. Mrs. F (embarrasses me that I don't recall her name) said she would check. She didn't have another, but said she would sell us the open bottle for something like $4. We loved that island spirit and kindness. We took the partial bottle, I think we insisted on $15, and had a wonderful memory!
And just have never found another place quite like Pirates / Saba.... You just never knew who or what you might see there, the beer was cold and the burgers first rate! ( Beer was probably warm and the burgers just ok, but the atmosphere, location, and characters just made everything better!)

I miss Craig and Sally's in Frenchtown, St. Thomas.
The new place there (Twisted Cork) is good, but not the same.

Also miss the Jolly Roger/Soapers. Many years ago the wife and I were having dinner and a few policemen sauntered in and arrested somebody. It was all so low key and "proper" you just had to laugh. Very British. Little fuss.

Pusser's in Soapers used to have a Piranha Bar. I miss that too. Those little guys would stare at your toes while you drank at the bar. Gave my girlfriend (now wife) the willies. If you got there at the right time you could watch them get fed... a couple of pieces of raw chicken.

I miss the jerk prime rib at Jolly Roger -- and yeah, the laid-back vibe that was Billy Bones is missed too....

And I miss the way JVD used to be before Kenny started singing about it....

I really miss the jerk prime rib at Jolly Roger. Probably the best cut of meat I have had in the BVI (we haven't been back in 9 years).
Also really loved the Friday night Fish Fry in Little Apple Bay where we would enjoy a meal with the locals.
I suppose I would be in for a shock going back now...
