[color:"blue"]We will be flying out of EWR to SXM for a month on 4/29 and were wondering if since the airport bombings if security has increased or has anything else changed as to increase the check in times for departure.[/color] <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/usflag.gif" alt="" /> <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/toast.gif" alt="" />

Due to decreased staffing at TSA Checkpoints, wait times for security are increasing at airports nationwide. Current wait times for EWR at this moment are 0-45 mins, depending on the terminal you are using. I would suggest being at airport 2 hours before your flight.

I flew out of Newark last week and on Monday and did not see any additional screening or personnel. On Sunday, before my Monday flight United sent an email warning of long lines. I arrived for my 1pm flight at 11:30 and the security line was deserted. I fly back out next week and will report any news observations.

Here is a Story about United's warning about wait times at EWR.

We flew out of EWR to SXM on Sunday March 6. We have Pre-Check and the line was huge. Probably took at least 30 minutes. This was about 5:45am. Coming back home we flew out of EWR to Detroit on Monday the 28th. We got to the airport about 9AM. There was absolutely no one in the Pre-Check line.
