A week went by fast. My 4th license plate now hangs in Baywatch(Bukaye, 0113H,Baywh, and now a college moniker-Ohio State- as BUKNKD). My wife & I stayed at Alamanda, and will again,in spite of their policy of no topless in the pool. My wife easily acquiesced, but I told herI didn't like swimming with a tee shirt on. Alamanda's included breakfast is a treat. We stayed on the 2nd floor next to the Presidential suite, which was fine since we were just biden our time. The snorkeling, the Perch, and the gregarious people under the yellow umbrellas made for a time certainly different than the mundane world. If you prefer a little isolation, other umbrellas along Orient Beach offer a quieter time.
New restaurants for us this time were Bistro Caraibes in Grande Case, and Peg Legs; both were excellent albeit different formats. One morning outside a pastry shop in Orleans, my wife & I had a chance to chat with a couple of gendarmes. After thanking them for speaking English, I mentioned that we've never had a problem in St Martin in about 9 visits. One of them leaned closer to us and said, "be careful". Maybe our penchant for earlier bedtimes and running the beach at dawn makes us less available. One evening, we were invited to dinner at a villa where some friends were staying, and our gourmet meal was prepared by a chef from Fabulous Feasts, and it was a work of art.
A quick run to Ma Dou Dou and Chapon was made for a couple of different kinds of art, on the way out of town. Our usual island exit is to check our bags at the airport then lunch at Sunset Beach, then return our rental car just before our flight. We must have had a good time because I just got a new yellow patio umbrella.
