Just got back this afternoon from a wonderful trip to Aruba, staying
at our timeshare in Divi Village. We had our traditional lunch with
friends, at Charlie's Bar and gambled nightly at the Alhambra.
I managed to win at the blackjack machine each night, making
between $1.25 to $6.00 each night ! Last of the big gamblers !
The highlights were the people we met. A waitress who worked in the bar at
the Alhambra, and one of our Aruban housekeepers were wonderful to talk with!
We also took the opportunity to eat at the Manchebo French Steakhouse restaurant
both Tuesday and Friday nights, having blackened grouper the first night and
blackened mahi-mahi the second night, while listening to Eddie Samson at the
piano both nights. It was a thrill to finally meet Eddie, as we stop to hear
his piano each time that we come to Aruba. We talked several times and it
was a joy for me as he is an exceptional pianist and has played there since 2001.
The trip back not so good. Missed connection in Charlotte. Made it to Cincinnati the next day, while our baggage has taken a side trip to DC.
Hope to see the baggage soon ! <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/duh.gif" alt="" />

Sounds like a nice trip. We visited Aruba on our recent Southern Caribbean cruise and we really liked the island. We saw the Divi on our excursion and it looks like a lovely resort. I think I even managed to get a picture of it as we drove by. <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Grin.gif" alt="" />

Post Script.
We were scheduled to be back in Cincy on a Sat.
We were held over until Sunday due to missed connection.
Our baggage was delivered to our home the next day, Monday, in
the evening. All's well that ends well ! <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Clapping.gif" alt="" /> <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Clapping.gif" alt="" /> <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Clapping.gif" alt="" />

When they spotted that subpoena in your hand Kid, they searched high and low for your luggage until they found it - lol - <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Grin.gif" alt="" /> glad it all worked out well.

We are planning our second honeymoon in Aruba in late fall early winter. 45 years ago we honeymooned at the Divi Resort in January of 1972 <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/circle.gif" alt="" />. Not sure if it is same complex as we stayed in way back when. Haven't booked the trip yet - any suggestions? Will be at our unit on SXM on weeks 8 and 9 in 2017 also.

You stayed at Divi Divi? If so, it is now known as Divi Aruba Beach Resort and is all-inclusive only. It is other wise pretty much the same as it was years ago, a bit larger perhaps, Red Parrot Restaurant is still there. This hotel resort is part of a complex including Tamarijn Hotel, Dutch Village, Divi Village, Divi Golf and Beach Resort, Divi Links Golf, Alhambra Casino and outdoor Mall. A free shuttle covers them all and the non Divi properties and restauants behind the casino as well.
