during our visit too Orient Beach 3-9 to 3-23 the erosion was very noticeable. our first few days were very windy with heavy down pours, we usually sit in the yel. chairs between the Perch and Pedro's, usually there's 2 or 3 rows, this year there was only one row when we arrived but after 3 days the chairs we had been sitting in had fallen in the water, so we had too move to the other side of the Perch for the rest of our vacation. If this continues at this rate the Perch will be in the water. How is it now, is it any better? They did open up the area above but we enjoy being right in front of the water, in doing this they removed the Club O sign, I hope they put it back up in a different location, because a lot of tourist like to take pictures in front of it.

The present beach condition might be the new norm. If I remember correctly this started with the hurricane that devastated the beach about a year and a half ago. Look what happened to Cupecoy after Louis. What you see might be permanent.

I was thinking the same thing. In the past we would say "the beach will be back, it always does" but it has been two years now where the beach from Pedros southward has narrowed. The beach is wider closer to Papagayo, but I remember when all of the beach was that wide. With sea levels rising all over the world it does not look good, but hope I am proven wrong!! <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Grin.gif" alt="" />

Some day I will figure out how to post it, but I have a picture from the Millenium, when we were at Club O. At that time, there was a HUGE amount of sand between Papagayo and the ocean..
