Chicken Hearts...
does anyone like them like I do?
I cook them up in a little chicken broth & lots of onions & mushrooms...
and serve them over white or brown rice... Yummmmmm!
also a dish that goes great with lima beans!

when I was in my teens I worked at a diner (Drosso's, in Greenport, NY on the North Fork of LI)...
My mentor, who instilled my love for cooking to this day, was an old jolly black man we called "Mr. Bill", in his mid-late 70's back in 1972...
he was from North Carolina, and came to Greenport to cook every summer... and stay with his daughter who lived there...
the chicken hearts were never on the menu, but he taught me to make them and we'd have them for lunch at least once a week...
I have such fond memories of that man...

used to be you could get them (chicken hearts) everywhere...
but now the only place I can find them is at a local oriental supermarket...
My mom & dad love them, but my wife won't touch them with a 10' pole!

Love chicken hearts! Sauteed them in olive oil and onions with lots of paprika. The only problem is they are an organ meat and you know what it is very high in!

Oh yeah! But I only eat them about once every two months or so... on a night when Deb is out with the Girl Friends...
Deb just bought me a 1# package two days ago when she went to the oriental market for flank steaks...
can't wait for the next girls night out!

OH, NO!!! <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Sick.gif" alt="" /> I was raised by gourmand Europeans who didn't waste any part of an animal. Hearts, lungs, livers, stomach linings.....YUCK!! I've had enough for a lifetime regardless of how they're prepared. <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Sick.gif" alt="" /> <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Sick.gif" alt="" />
I love you anyway, Brian. <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Laugh.gif" alt="" />

I was raised by NY Irish/German immigrants, and still love hearts, liver and sweet breads...
