Today's the day......we'll be sleeping in our own bed tonight and at least one of us thinks that's a good thing.
Another cloudy and overcast morning not worthy of a photo but I will say, the sky colors around five a.m. were very pretty - soft pinks and purples amid the puffy white corkscrew-like clouds. But for now, the sun is up there somewhere trying to break through, I'm sure.
It's been my pleasure having everyone along and sharing our trip with such pleasant travel companions. Nothing too exciting, I know, and perhaps much not of particular relevance to most, but I hope somewhere along the way I managed to evoke a memory or raise a smile or two for a few of you. And now, as I lean toward closing my iPad for the next few hours, I hope those of you soon come will pay it forward and share your future trips as they happen. I know it's going to be a long drought for us and reading others' adventures will certainly help pave our way to next April.
And so it begins - departure day. Wonder what lays in store over the next few hours. Time will tell.......
Respectfully,
pat

Teresa and all,
If our departure experience so far is any indication, this may be one of the best trips home we've experienced.
We returned our car at the Best Deal lot at 10:45 and were shuttled to the airport and in the Executive lounge by 11:15. No crowds, no lines, and no people and every single person we've encountered has been in a great mood with big smiles and greetings. The only drawback we've encountered so far is the lounge is completely out of white vino - what the hey? But i can handle it and the snacks aren't bad either.
This has been a totally unusual trip in so many ways. We tried lots of new-to-us places, we made several trips to town but purchased nothing and in fact, the full sum and total of our purchases include a tee shirt for J and I just picked up a bottle of my favorite perfume here at the airport.
The first week we were here with family, the weather was drop dead gorgeous every day but sadly, I mistakenly checked the weather forecast for week two and it was beyond dire - rain every day. Well guess what - the forecasters here are just as off base as the ones at home. It's been hot and very humid but we only experienced one post-bedtime night of rain and one or two brief sprinkles over the rest of our trip.
And rumor has it we're going home to great weather there, too. This has truly been a perfect trip in every way. Time well spent with family and then many occasions of spending and enjoying good times with island friends. Thank you all for sharing your time and your island. It's been real and it's been fun and now we plot and plan for next year.

Glad things are going good, except for the white wine!

Hopefully the rest of the trip home will be just as good!
You know that's funny, you said that the last time--that they were out of white wine on your last trip.. That makes no sense. That sounds like poor planning or deliberate under-stocking. They did have white wine when I was there in March. I would personally 'make do' with red wine, if faced with your choice, but I know not everyone likes reds. I can't remember what food they had when I was through there in March, but I remember being slightly disappointed. The previous time I was there, they had the little mini quiches (which I adore!) and chicken wings, and they had neither in March.
Hopefully that is the biggest glitch on your way home and if so, pretty good!

Well, since it's now been a month and a half since I got back, even if I did, I think they would have re-stocked by now...

I was looking forward to steak night at the Green Monkey based on your review. We went to rib night last night and they said no steaks this weekend as they are starting their summer schedule with breakfast only. Enjoyed all your postings. We are lucky to have one more week here.

Sorry you missed it, Chic, as the steaks were quite good and huge!
Every year I try to get John to stay a little longer and this trip we did eighteen days but I don't want to tell you how much it hurt to leave the last three on the table. Next year, I am definitely aiming for nineteen days and one of these years perhaps I'll get him to stick it out for the three full weeks.
